The Prime Minister of Qatar said that Hamas wanted to hand over all the civilian hostages on the first day of the war, but the Israelis rejected the proposal and refused to even “entertain the idea.”

Albanese's proposal to water down Australian copyright to appease AI companies is a "terrible betrayal", writes Richard Flanagan in a blistering piece.
"The government’s secret proposals on AI copyright effectively amount to handing over our culture to a handful of anti-democratic oligarchs and raising the spectre of Australia becoming a vassal state."
"A government that doesn’t understand its nation’s culture is a government incapable of leading the nation."

Documents obtained exclusively under Freedom of Information laws for @DeclassifiedAus by @KellieTranter last year reveal that a confidential “running commentary” on plans for ‘ethic cleansing’ of Gaza was being provided to Prime Minister Albanese internally from within the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFAT).
Albanese had explained his silence to reporters, when asked about President Trump’s plans to “take over Gaza”, by saying he would not be offering a “running commentary” on President Trump’s remarks.
But cables were being sent between Washington and Canberra in relation to the Trump Administration’s position on Gaza and the ‘routine information only’ cables read exactly like a ‘running commentary’.
The advice provided by DFAT to the Prime Minister about the intended fate of the Palestinians of Gaza included:
•President Trump talking about “cleaning out” Gaza.
•Trump elaborating his Gaza plan to clarify that Palestinians would not be able to return to Gaza after being relocated elsewhere.
•Trump urging Jordan and Egypt to “take on” about “a million and a half” refugees from the territory.
•Incoming US National Security Agency (NSA) chief Mike Waltz talking about Israeli ‘achievements’ in Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran.
•The President refusing to rule out deploying US troops to remove the Palestinians.
• Trump stating “we’re gonna take over that piece [Gaza] and we’re gonna develop it.. the Riviera of the Middle East”.
•President Trump’s threats to cut aid to Jordan and Egypt if they refused his demand to permanently take in most Palestinians from Gaza.
EXCLUSIVE: DOCUMENTS REVEAL AUSTRALIAN PRIME MINISTER’S KNOWING SILENCE TO PLANS FOR ETHNIC CLEANSING OF GAZA

Larry Johnson (@NewSonof): Rubio said the quiet part out loud. Washington will not put the international order above itself. Russia and China watched Washington walk away from the ABM and INF treaties and abandon the commitments that held the old arms-control system together. The Iran MOU was not an exception. They will build something new. Paper that Washington wipes with is not a world order. SCO and BRICS are what you get when the signatures are gone.
Rubio: “We will always act in the national interest of our country, not in the interest of the international order. We will never put the international order above the interest of the United States. Okay?”
Johnson: “This is Machiavelli on steroids. To my fellow citizens: we need to look in the mirror, folks. We’re the ones that are taking the international agreements and international orders and frankly wiping our ass with it and saying it means nothing.
Both Russia and China are willing to—they’re going to create something new. Whether we’re going to be a part of it or not remains in question.
We’re witnessing the dissolution of an international order that is, let’s call it, geoeconomic. It’s political, it’s economic, it’s military, and it all emerged out of World War II. The two countries that really had a commitment to this concept of international law, it turns out, were both Russia—the Soviet Union—and China, because they suffered 70 to 75 percent of all the casualties in World War II. You have to think about that. It is such an enormous number. It’s tough to comprehend. And so they put a lot of stock in, okay, we’re going to have these rules, and it’s going to keep us from killing one another. Even the United Nations Security Council was viewed as a vehicle for resolving conflict without having to go to war.
Now what they’re seeing under Donald Trump is a complete rejection of law across the board. During the time with the Soviets, we signed multiple important arms-control limitation treaties—SALT I, SALT II. Then we had the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty and the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty. The Russians put a lot of stock in that. And who’s walked away from it? It was George W. Bush who blew up the anti-ballistic missile agreement. And then it’s been Trump who’s walked away from INF and START. He just said, no, we’re not following those. So no longer do agreements, handshakes, or something written on paper count.
What he did with the MOU with Iran has not been an aberration. It’s a continuation of a pattern. This is leading Russia and China to sit back and really reconsider what kind of international organization they are going to be part of and work with and use going forward. The United Nations is becoming increasingly irrelevant. We’re going to see organizations like the Shanghai Cooperation Organization—the SCO—or BRICS become more important.”

Fantastic piece!
“I argue that the United States is deliberately preparing to sacrifice Europe. When Ukrainian manpower is exhausted, European men and European territory are to become the next expendable resource in a proxy war against Russia.
For decades a networked elite has manipulated governments, manufactured consent for wars of aggression, and shielded itself from accountability through legal and institutional mechanisms designed for that purpose. That same elite now faces the collapse of its financial instruments, the failure of its traditional tools of control, and the rise of powers it can no longer dominate. It cannot afford to lose power, because loss of power would mean exposure for crimes that, under the standards established at Nuremberg, constitute the supreme international crime.
Europe’s own political class is not working for Europe’s interest. Its loyalty has been carefully cultivated to serve the American hegemon — more like a beaten wife than an equal partner. The continent is therefore being transformed from ally into resource: economically drained, politically captured, and militarily prepared as the theatre in which the costs of imperial decline will be paid. The ultimate expression of this strategy is a managed escalation that keeps the American homeland as sanctuary while Europe absorbs both the conventional attrition and the nuclear risk”.

The tell was always what both parties agreed on.
Not what they fought about.
What they agreed on.
They fought about abortion.
They agreed on the military budget.
They fought about immigration.
They agreed on Wall Street deregulation.
They fought about trans athletes.
They agreed on not taxing unrealized capital gains.
They fought about Dr. Seuss.
They agreed on drone warfare.
They fought about cancel culture.
They agreed on the surveillance architecture built after 2001 that has never been dismantled.
The fights were loud, personal, morally charged, identity-coded, and covered wall to wall.
The agreements were made in committee, in legislative language nobody reads, in budget line items, in appointments to regulatory agencies whose names most voters couldn't name.
Democracy, in this arrangement, is the performance of disagreement about the things that don't threaten the arrangement.
The things that threaten the arrangement are handled through the bipartisan consensus that the performance is specifically designed to make invisible.
Watch what they agree on.
Everything else is theater with a very large production budget.

Imagine calling someone "non-working" when they just pulled off a multi-country tour of actual, high-impact engagements in a single week.
Driving real global change on his own terms - besides advocating for sick children and their carers; Prince Harry covered AI ethics, youth mental health, landmine clearance, environmental conservation, and skydived for veterans.
A reminder of what real global leadership looks like.
Some people cut ribbons, smile & wave and sign guestbooks; Prince Harry actually works.

The Cornell University r@pist. These men drugged a young woman and took turns r@ping her. In a group chat, they took a picture of her and invited others to rape her. Only two of them were expelled the others had to write an essay. You should be outraged by the outcome. This young woman will forever be changed by what happened to her and these young men get a slap on the hand.
The last 24 hours of news as a woman:
- A man jacks off to the woman next to him on a plane. United makes her return to her seat.
- 7 frat boys drug and gang rape a student for hours, and advertise “free p*ssy” to their frat. Cornell makes them write essays.
- A football player rapes a student. LSU reduces his suspension.
- A teen boy stalks and stabs a girl 10 times. Courts grant only a restraining order.
- Brendan Carr spent 9 years in a cult raping teen girls. Trump made him FCC Chair.

Today Prince William is lecturing us about Climate Change.
Yesterday he flew in a Private Jet, then a Helicopter, then travelled in a multi vehicle Land Rover Convoy.
Earlier this year he went on holiday in this $450m Megayacht that uses as much fuel as 2000 cars.
He is full of shit

Dear Ireland football team. The cowardice of @FIFAcom, @UEFA & the @FAIreland have put you in this shitty position. All proper Ireland fans really feel for you.
But your position is still one of privilege when compared with the 1,000 Palestinian athletes murdered by the entity since October 2023. Please act in solidarity with them and with the wishes of the overwhelming majority of Irish people whom you represent.
A symbolic protest of not swapping jerseys or shaking hands would be an insult to the tens of thousands of slaughtered kids of Gaza, three years into a genocide. Just #StopTheGame
