Beyond the library of textbooks runs another shelf of medicine — one made up of novels, essays, and memoirs that explore the field not through knowledge, but through lived experience. These are books about care when cure is no longer possible, about error and accountability, about bodies that fail and minds that endure, about limits and the many ways people push against them. For many physicians, these works prove more formative than entire courses. We've gathered 10 titles every doctor should read at least once - tap the link full list: mdsc.pe/3Uy39Mr

Recently saw ref to a study describing new ways of detecting v low endogenous insulin in those living successfully for >50yrs with T1 but can’t now find it - can anyone help? #T1D #research
People living with #T1D and some preserved endogenous insulin production are at extremely low ketoacidosis risk. This inspires advanced therapies that restore at least some insulin production. Read here ➡️ doi.org/10.2337/dc26-0220 @AmDiabetesAssn @ADA_DiabetesPro @ADA_Pubs

7 years ago on 1 March, an international group of specialists convened by @DUK_research discussed metal wellbeing & rated research into disordered eating as a priority. So very, very sad to read this… 😔
Vital NHS pilot schemes to treat people living with type 1 diabetes and disordered eating (T1DE) are set to close due to lack of funding. Due to the complex relationship between insulin restriction, weight and eating disorder behaviour, T1DE is extremely difficult to treat. It requires a team with expertise in both eating disorders and type 1 diabetes. NHS England have commissioned a series of pilots to address this care gap since 2019, and early evaluations of the pilots showed improved patient health outcomes and halved the cost of inpatient admissions. We firmly believe these pilot schemes must remain open. We will continue advocating on behalf of the community to ensure that the voices and lived experiences of people affected are heard clearly by the decision-makers who shape these policies.
