ALT This tiny micro appeared in the trap on the warm night of May 1st. It took a little while for it to stay still enough for a pot shot ~ from that and plenty of staring through the eye-lens, it fell in to place that we had a 1st for the garden & TG04 ~ Aristotelia brizella, the Thrift Elder. Quite a rare moth this one across the county, it's a coastal saltmarsh species, so (most likely) the warm weather and a gentle NE breeze pushed it our way.

ALT This one had us puzzled for quite some time. After a lot of research, it seems like this could be Hysterophora maculosana, Bluebell Conch (Small Bluebell Beauty) ~ which is amazing if right, given that there's barely a patch of native bluebells anywhere close to CMO HQ, more amazing still having spent hours earlier in the week looking for one along the Drift and on the Heath. This one didn't look like the fresher individuals we saw at Salthouse, but does have a few shared features ~ so fingers crossed we got this one right 🤞 Another pretty scarce county moth...

ALT This was the first of the week's big surprises. Found in a trap with a FUN lure, this was another puzzle as we'd never seen this one before. Again, there was some pouring over books and online images and, try as we might, we couldn't dissuade ourselves that this was Pammene albuginana, Scarce Oak Gall Moth. Such a beautiful little micro and yet another that isn't widely recorded across Norfolk.
