I wish more was known on this case. It’s heartbreaking.

1) Notice how much information the caller needs to give prior to getting to what the emergency is.
2) Ask yourself why this particular information took priority for the caller.

I’ve heard @CoffindafferFBI and @ColdCaseTips mention a theory of a staged scene. This could reconcile the description of a crime scene instead of a description of how the scene came to be.
Passive language about the light still unexpected. No connection to the act.

Color of the watch and flood light suggests handling of the items.
The description is of ‘a crime scene’ and not how the scene came to be in that condition.
The author may be someone close to the investigation.

Although they didn’t express as strong of opinions, it was interesting to hear them exploring the same area discussed on @CoffindafferFBI show through a little bit of a different approach to analyzing the language

Language
Gender
Initial motivation
etc
Among other things, the author’s priorities suggested a need to:
1) Mask their identity
2) Protect John Ramsey’s business
Also suggested shared context with John Ramsey that existed outside of the three written pages.

The Jon Benet Ramsey Ranson Note- We will break it down. xitter.cf/i/broadcasts/1dGYlabvR…
I agree with @lenasisco and @CoffindafferFBI that the author was “truly sorry” in the second note. The pronoun “we” has a need to share the sorrow.
It suggests ‘linguist protection’ over the other(s) involved.
Her take on 5pm was interesting to me as well. More below…

There are a few things I’m reflecting on with RN1 I am trying to understand.
One is the sentence, “We will be holding her for a maximum of 7 days”
It is unnecessary when the author follows with a deadline…

RN1: Author’s linguistic presence only occurs as follows:
WE have your mother Nancy
WE will be holding her for a maximum of 7 days
It is in the best interest of EVERYONE…
You will not be able to contact ME from here on out

The heavily infected use of passivity is likely why LE would be skeptical of the ransom notes.
Passivity makes the threat weak in the first note. The author then apologizes for Nancy passing of natural causes in the second one
