4.2 million working age people now receive health related benefits, a million more than 5 years ago with mental and behavioural disorders and musculoskeletal disorders dominating @ifs. Time to invest in the NHS and in good mental health services.

With the "jobless to lose benefits" stuff being reannounced today, just a reminder that the govt's own analysis found that sanctions appeared to lead to fewer people getting jobs...
No wonder govt has suppressed this sanctions evaluation for so long gov.uk/government/publicatio…; hard to think how it could be any worse.
Sanction makes you more likely to leave benefit but no more likely to get a job - and if you do find work you earn less.
But worst of all...

It's a year today since the #UberFiles scandal broke. It revealed Uber bulldozed its way into Europe, ran roughshod over the laws, deployed a 'kill switch' to hide information, bought academics, politicians etc. The company has basically faced no repercussions for any of this.
