UK border force recently conducted an experiment at Manchester Airport to see if biometric systems could be used in place of passport checks.

40 years ago today, British Airtours flight KT28M attempted to take off from Manchester, going to Corfu, but unfortunately suffered an accident that killed 55 people.
There will be a minutes silence at MAN today at 1200. May they all rest in peace.
