ETHIOPIANS KILLING ETHIOPIANS. WHAT KIND OF COUNTRY HAS ETHIOPIA BECOME? Imagine living in the 21st century, yet men, women and children face the threat of being burned alive or murdered simply because they are Christian or belong to another community. If this footage is authentic, it is a horrifying indictment of a nation in crisis. How primitive and how deeply tragic is it that people who share the same country can become enemies in their own homeland? This is what happens when leadership fails, when national unity is sacrificed for political survival, and when those entrusted to serve their people put other interests before Ethiopia itself. A country cannot build its future while its own people are hunted, terrorized and killed. Ethiopia deserves better. Its people deserve peace. #Ethiopia #Arsi #StopEthnicViolence #HumanityFirst

Welcomed Ms. Elena Piriondi, Chief of the Executive Board Branch, and Mr. Robert Stevens for a briefing and exchange on the development of the new @UNFPA Country Programme for #Eritrea. Discussions focused on the programme's substantive elements, strategic orientation, development process and alignment with Eritrea's national development priorities. The briefing provided an opportunity to review the proposed areas of cooperation, expected results and the framework for UNFPA's continued engagement in #Eritrea. Emphasis was placed on ensuring national ownership, meaningful consultation with relevant national institutions and coherence between the programme's objectives and Eritrea's development priorities. The exchange also took place against the backdrop of wider UN reform discussions, including system-wide concerns surrounding the proposed mergers of UN entities, institutional restructuring and the broader implications of the reform process for the UN development system. Issues of particular relevance include the potential implications for institutional mandates, accountability, governance arrangements, resource allocation, country-level presence and the delivery of development assistance. The importance of ensuring that reform does not undermine specialized mandates, diminish Member State oversight or compromise the ability of UN entities to respond to the distinct priorities and circumstances of programme countries was highlighted. The UNFPA representatives outlined the next steps in the programme development and approval process, confirming that the new Country Programme for #Eritrea will be presented to the @UNFPA Executive Board in 2027.

In the current international/diplomatic discourse regarding the imperative of adherence to, and respect of, foundational pillars of international law as well as the maintenance of regional peace and security, the following salient facts and sequence of events must be recognized, without any equivocation, as the kernel/principal causes behind the prevailing grave situation: 1. On 13 October 2023, the Potemkin Party willfully manufactured an unnecessary and avoidable crises between the two countries by formally and publicly declaring its hostile agenda of acquiring "sovereign access to the sea", apparently and ultimately through invasion and occupation of Eritrea's sovereign lands. This dangerous declaration constituted a flagrant violation of foundational pillars of international law as well as the Joint Declaration of Peace and Friendship signed between the two countries in Asmara on 9 July 2018. 2. This initial declaration was ramped up in subsequent years through relentless and incendiary media campaigns; associated saber-rattling, and massive rearmament. The scope of the PP's impending invasion was also broadened to include forcible incorporation of Eritrea's southern coastline (see attached map) for the establishment of "a sovereign naval force with strategic depth". 3. The war agenda was further ratcheted up and translated into an operational plan when the PP regime launched its military operations in the Tigray Administrative Region in mid-September this year. Indeed a couple of days after the eruption of the war, the PP's Deputy Chief of Staff announced that "Mekelle will be a mere stop-over... the main objective is to install our flag in the Red Sea". 4. And on 9 October last month, the PP regime went further to ominously "notify the UNSC" on the unleashing of its war of aggression against Eritrea under the spurious pretext of "self-defense". The writing on the wall is thus crystal clear; eliciting, as it does, unequivocal condemnation as well as requisite deterrent measures in accordance with explicit provisions of the UN Charter and associated instruments.

⚖️ Sovereign Red Lines: Amb. Andebrhan Dismantles Addis Ababa’s Maritime Distortions 🇪🇷 🇪🇹 Political differences vanish at the border: when sovereign territory is threatened, Eritrean unity is absolute. Ambassador Andebrhan Welde Giorgis dismantles the Prosperity Party's expansionist rhetoric using historical record and international law: 🔴 Debunking Historical Fabrications: Pre-colonial Abyssinian rulers never controlled the Red Sea coastline or the territory of Medre Bahri; sovereign title cannot be manufactured through historical revisionism. 🟡 Commercial Access vs. Sovereign Title: Under UNCLOS Article 125, landlocked nations hold freedom of transit, not a right of sovereign ownership over coastal territory. 🟣 Border Treaties Are Permanent: Established boundaries and the EEBC ruling are inviolable under international law and cannot be altered by administrative changes or unilateral claims. 🟢 Unanimous National Defense: Domestic political critiques do not dilute the consensus that Assab, Massawa, and every inch of the coastline are sovereign and non-negotiable. The grim spectacle (photos in the link below) of Potemkin Party's senior government officials undergoing, and even eulogizing, some misplaced military training and "militarism", provokes a host of perplexing questions on the PP's perspectives and modus operandi. To be clear, the spiraling domestic conflicts that are besetting Ethiopia and the escalating tensions in the region stem from the Potemkin Party's willful and misguided policies. They are indeed the offspring of the PP's wars of choice; so to speak. The recent upheaval in Moyale that has ignited internecine conflict between the Somali and Oromia Regions; the ferocious wars raging in the Tigray and Amhara Regions etc... stem from its dysfunctional governance architecture. In the wider Horn of Africa Region, the Potemkin Party continues to instigate and manufacture unnecessary and avoidable tensions with Eritrea, Somalia, and the Sudan respectively in pursuit of myopic and ill-advised agendas of territorial irredentism and destabilization; often to advance, as a surrogate party, the larger schemes of certain external powers. In the event, the Potemkin Party does not require additional "militarism" but therapeutic introspection - ናይ ክልተ ሸውዓተ ማጨሎት ደርዓንቶ! Ethiopia and the region cannot indeed afford, and must be spared from, yet another cycle of costly conflicts and turmoil. xitter.cf/fanatelevision/status/…

PM Abiy Ahmed's Prosperity Party continues to speak with two voices. To foreign governments and regional leaders, the message is always: "#Ethiopia seeks sea access peacefully." To domestic audiences, the message is very different: “Ethiopia's size and population supposedly entitle it to sea access "by negotiation or by force."” This latest post from @fanatelevision exposes the contradiction. Even more revealing is the imagery itself. To project maritime power, Ethiopia's state media appears to showcase its "navy" conducting exercises on the waters of the GERD (Abay) reservoir rather than any coastline. The image is unintentionally revealing: a landlocked state's navy performing maritime drills on a dam reservoir while officials insist their ambitions are purely peaceful. It would be comical were the underlying rhetoric not so serious. No amount of doublespeak can conceal the reality. The #RedSea littoral states and the international community understand the difference between legitimate commercial access and ambitions backed by military rhetoric.#Ethiopia is a landlocked nation. Commercial access through trade, cooperation, and international agreements is legitimate. Pursuing sea access through coercion, threats, or military posturing is not.COMMERCIAL ACCESS: YES. MILITARY ACCESS: NO!! @EgyptForeignMin @AlsisiOfficial @aftaburhan @hawelti @umutcagrisariii

Jawar Mohammed's "deconfliction" narrative is a desperate cover-up. Abiy's forces didn't pull back from the Eritrean border out of restraint. They were forced back after their offensives stalled in Amhara and Tigray. Let’s look at the facts: • Abiy openly threatened Eritrea, vowing to take Assab and the Red Sea by force. • The federal forces are facing stiff resistance day in and day out from Amhara Fano, forcing them into a rapid retreat. Now, Jawar wants the world to believe this forced retreat is a calculated "peace gesture"? This is a veiled attempt to gaslight the international community and manufacture a "necessary self-defense" pretext for a regime whose regional ambitions just hit a brick wall. #HornOfAfrica #Ethiopia #Eritrea – at Kiambu, Kenya
Abiy’s Deconfliction Measures Put Isaias to the Test There has been a divergent but interesting strategic game playing out between Isaias and Abiy over the past couple of weeks. By pulling some Ethiopian forces back from positions near the Eritrean border, Abiy Ahmed has responded to international calls for de-escalation without relinquishing Ethiopia’s right to defend its territory. Separating forces reduces the risk of an unintended military clash. But deconfliction cannot work if only one side changes its military posture. Ethiopia has also demanded that Eritrea end its military presence inside Ethiopian territory, stop providing sanctuary and material support to armed groups fighting the federal government, and accept credible arrangements to monitor cross-border movements. Without these commitments, a quieter border could simply conceal the same underlying security threats. Those pressing Ethiopia to avoid another war are now asking what Isaias will do in return. So far, his response has been contrary to what advocates of de-escalation had hoped for. First, he allowed TPLF’s Army 70 to move from Sudan to the Shiraro front through Eritrean territory. Second, TPLF movements around Rama, and their proximity to Eritrean military positions, raise particular concerns about possible cross-border military assistance. Third, despite Ethiopia's demand that Eritrea stop supporting rebel groups, the Alliance for Survival's council met in Eritrea a few days ago and announced plans to strengthen cooperation against the Abiy government. This is yet another clear indication that the Eritrean regime has little intention of reciprocating Ethiopia's de-escalatory gestures and appears determined to continue provoking tensions. Abiy can use these developments to press international partners to scrutinize Eritrea's role in the escalating tensions, rather than allowing the discussion to focus exclusively on Ethiopia's troop deployments. In short, Isaias is refusing to reciprocate Ethiopia's de-escalatory measures. This allows Abiy to demonstrate that his government has responded to international calls for restraint while its legitimate security concerns remain unaddressed. The Ethiopian troop pullback strengthens Abiy's diplomatic and international case for taking defensive measures if those threats persist.
