Gary Lineker on winning the National TV Award,
"It's not lost on me why I might have won this award"
"Aside from presenting Match of the Day, the most iconic football show for 26 years"
"Also, I think it demonstrates that perhaps it's ok sometimes to use our platform to speak up on behalf of those who have no voice"

A fascinating discussion which took refreshingly different turn . More of these please ..
We tried something different on #BBCWato today. As I so often pick @EvanHD brains on economic issues, we recorded our 10 min discussion on the rationale for @realDonaldTrump tariffs. Is the US being “ripped off”? bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0l3lt…
All those things and more …
Just watched Sir Gareth Southgate deliver The Richard Dimbleby Lecture 2025 on @BBCOne . It is utterly outstanding - superbly composed , brilliantly delivered , compelling , bold and true . Its really is what we pay our licence fee for . You can watch it here . . . bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0…

Most obvious point: @GaryLineker has been a brilliant presenter over decades. It's vanishingly rare for a world-class footballer also to be a top broadcaster, and he has made it seem effortless. He has been an absolutely vital part of the @BBCSport brand. (1/2)

Starmer asked about VAT on private schools
"I do understand that many parents save hard to send their children to private school because they aspirations for them...so does every parent who sends their child to a state school. And the problem is we don't have enough teachers in key subjects in our secondary schools. The party opposite may be willing to tolerate that. I'm not."
