Replying to @behaviOrganisms
@behaviOrganisms & I worked on this piece, off and on, for 5 years! Glad that it's finally out into the world. It's about the importance of the individual organism in the development and evolution of brains. It's about Time.

We also discuss mistakes folks often make (and I have certainly made) when it comes to thinking about how development and evolution work together.
I'm still mildly annoyed that it was desk-rejected by at least 4 journals (and, of course, with no meaningful explanation) but happy that it got constructive, thoughtful and rapid reviews at sciencedirect.com/journal/ne…

Model Systems in Biology by @georg_striedter looks good, like a gut check! Just got it yesterday. On the "to read" shortlist.
My 3-year experiment in signing all my manuscript reviews is over. I finally came across some studies where revealing my identity hampered expressing my critique. That is, I doubted that the authors would take well what I had to say.

Thought-provoking paper by Chris Fields and @drmichaellevin that explores the implications of this statement.

Can someone point me to a study that shows that human infants/toddlers use imitation as part of their vocal learning strategy? I'd be much obliged.

Was thinking about my past work and how I got into neural oscillations for one rewarding phase of my career. My memory chain quickly brought me to this great paper by the late Peter Lakatos. It had a big influence on me.

Many thanks to @jonasobleser for his obituary highlighting Peter's many accomplishments.
