And this by Michael Roberts:
'Here again is truth... the long unhurried diligence of childhood, measuring the exact length of a shadow.... with the house dead quiet, and only a blackbird in the garden.'
And me, gazing out of that bedroom window in the fading light.

Last night I was in my childhood bedroom, now the 'office'. My parents have a few books that have sat on a shelf my whole life, perpetually unread.
And suddenly I found this: Eliot, e.e. cummings, Dylan & R S Thomas... they were there all along. Undiscovered. (1/2)
Enjoyed this tale of severe social anxiety and a deep, personal bond with office equipment.
Great narrative voice. Funny, odd, contemplative, drily satirising the emptiness of workplace culture. Would recommend.

Do you "really like music", with absolutely no notions of good and bad? Do you have kids, who you insist on talking to as if they're 39 year-old adults like yourself, even when they're being tw*ts in the supermarket? Think a Gok Wan DJ set sounds like a good thing? Try this!!
Am reading poetry collection Healing the Pack by @clare_potter following her superb set in Penarth last Sunday. Feels like the work of a whole lifetime. I love it.
Plus (for balance?), the superbly-titled To Hell With Poets, stories by Baqytgul Sarmekova, a young Kazakh writer.
New article by me! Artist Charles Byrd captured a changing Cardiff in his unique style in the 1950s and worked til his death aged 101, yet still deserves wider recognition. Take a look!

I wanted to like this memoir of growing up and being in bands, but the irreverent rambling just goes on and on and on. It could be half the length.
'Now, if our tour had been like the Rolling Stones...' (entire page of daft references to drugs and excess) '...but it wasn't.'
Splendid evening listening to Tiffany Murray chat to Owen Sheers. Really warm vibes, interesting tales of family and Freddie Mercury, and beautifully written excerpts from the memoir.
Well done to the staff at @WaterstonesCDF for putting this on, alongside other fine events.
An absolutely fantastic event tonight with the exceptional Tiffany Murray and Owen Sheers 🎸 such warmth in the room, as well as wonderful stories shared! If you missed out on tonight's talk, we have signed copies of #MyFamilyAndOtherRockStars in store!
