Regular reminder that libraries are much more than just books—although that would be valuable in itself. Libraries provide research databases, games, classes, clubs, movie screenings and a hundred other services.

Thinking is productive. One toxic thing about our productivity culture is that it encourages us to *look* busy by constantly typing, clicking, and scrolling yet regards pure contemplation as a waste of time, when it is in fact the foundation for everything else.

I would like to do an acknowledgement for all the council workers around the country who are working alongside our emergency responders to get things working again. These poor buggers get endless vitriol and scorn but here they are busting themselves to fix our broken country.

7. If you have any spare time in your day, I implore you to volunteer at a low-decile school. There simply isn’t enough $ for Teacher Aides to help with the myriad of needs. Even just an hour of your time to read with some kids and give them a smile. Please.

I had no money growing up. My dad was a labourer and my mum did everything to make ends meet. Men worked hard. Women worked miracles. But education was free. As was the local library. I knew books were my passport to a better life. #SupportLibraries

Public Libraries aren’t there to fill gaps caused by cuts to other services they’re there to promote the joy of books/reading, literacy, information & education. Let libraries be libraries 🤷‍♀️ #libraries
