Stairs. Stairs. More stairs. No proper maintenance in sight. This is the condition of council flats in Reiger Park, Ekurhuleni, Gauteng. And recently, a woman fell through them! Later, I’ll show you a set of stairs installed 3 weeks ago as part of a R550k staircase “upgrade”!

This is in Reiger Park, Gauteng. The old school (Reiger Park Primary) was demolished a year ago - with a new school expected to be completed around this time. The Gauteng provincial education department has forced the kids to go to school in dusty containers.

My name is Liam Jacobs. Last night, @GaytonMcK confirmed that I’ll finally be returning to Parliament under the banner of the PA. My focus will be: To protect the public purse of the people of South Africa. To hold those who are the custodians of the public purse to account - fearlessly. To change the lives of ordinary South Africans through visible, tangible and palpable service delivery. And finally, to cement South Africa’s place as one of the world’s greatest nations. See you in the next episode! 🇿🇦💚❤️

Two years ago, I was one of the FIRST critics asking a simple question: “Where is the foundation?” Today, I’m proud to say the answer is HERE!! The Joshlin Smith Foundation is being launched this weekend in Saldanha! See you there. 💚

The DA’s City of Cape Town is selling selling selling at rates we’ve never seen before! The DA knows it’s losing power at the end of this year! And we know who they intend on selling to! When we govern in 2026, these developers will be mandated to make 20-30% of their housing stock affordable housing. Our people must be able to live close to where we work AND we must be able to AFFORD where we live! We can no longer afford to have a government that cares more for tourists and AirBnBs than it does for its own residents! That’s the Cape Town we want! One that’s for all of us - not for some of us!

Cape Town, it’s your choice. A Mayor (🟢) who wants: 1. Healing - more social workers, counsellors and psychologists in our streets and in our schools. 2. Smarter policing - REAL collaboration with SAPS and stronger data-driven policing. 3. A GBV-response overhaul. 4. The return of the walking bus. 5. An anti-drug strategy that crushes dealers and heals users. (Just to name a few) ORRRRRR A “mayor” (🔵) who wants to over-police our communities. Who sees “criminals” and not communities in need of healing. A mayor who has overseen murder rates that match those of war zones! The choice is yours! 💚 Cape Town for all of us - or Cape Town for some of us?👀
We welcome the President’s army deployment to stem gang violence. SAPS is overwhelmed, and communities need the urgent help. But we must be clear - this will only be a short-term fix. The real solution is for President Ramaphosa to expand Metro Police powers to let us investigate gun crimes. Only then will we ensure criminals go to prison! ✅ #SONA2026

COLOURED LIVES MATTER! Make your voice thick. Make your voice heard. This is what happens when we all do it together! I salute and thank each person who stood up and refused silence. Each person who chose action over inaction. And each person who was brave enough to say “coloured lives matter - the army or nothing”. Ek bars sommer van blydskap !!!

Here’s the distinction: the army is a temporary stabiliser to the brutal situation we face. I am of the firm belief that healing our communities is the path to uplifting them from the scourge of gangsterism. After the army, it HAS to be social workers, psychologists and counsellors. (When I become Mayor of Cape Town, this will happen regardless!) We must also empower our people and strive towards this RELENTLESSLY! Our people must become business owners, builders of our communities and the protectors of our children and loved ones - and it is imperative that the government creates the environment for this to happen in! There’s essays I can write about this, but I am more excited for its implementation!

Sorry Daniel, it’s not “if replicated” - it’s “when replicated”. Cape Town will be affordable, safe and without a housing crisis!
Latest Patriotic Alliance W Cape by-election win In George again points to a more brittle DA support base - which if replicated in Cape Town - could impact the party's overall municipal majority. The DA will need to put resources into Cape Town alongside it's Johannesburg push.

“But what will you do as Mayor?”. This is the tip of the iceberg of the plans I have in store for when we end up governing Cape Town! Local government can be fundamentally reimagined and change the lives of all our people!

They made the meeting virtual, but they couldn’t contain the heat! Here’s the true state of Cape Town as well as the Cape Town we deserve! A Cape Town for all of us, not for some of us!

Yes. They’re selling the city out from under our noses. Our city will not belong to us if the DA remains at the helm. Instead, it will be owned by the property developers, the elite and the ultra-wealthy. This must be stopped!! We must also question why they’re ramping up these auctions as 2026 approaches 👀

The DA’s City of Cape Town Municipality clearly cares more about the tourists than they do for the ordinary Capetonians who build this city on a daily basis. This is deeply unfair. Our moments of dignity are being robbed from us on a daily basis by a hostile government that values the lives and experiences of those from outside our shores than it does for those who live here! With us, this would NEVER happen. Our solution to this unfairness is simple: Equal treatment for ALL citizens. This is SOUTH AFRICA!! Cape Town must work for ALL of us who call it home. Not only for the ultra wealthy, the developers and the tourists!

R430 Million on WALLS?? Let’s be clear: We can do so much more with the money they use on walls. We can make our communities safer through healing them. 2026 is our chance to fix this!!
