To the people who hate Thandeka, here is the uncomfortable truth I genuinely cannot imagine spending this much of my life studying the movements, words, expressions and every little mistake of someone I claim to hate. There is something almost tragic about it. There is a certain school of thought that believes our attention is one of the most honest forms of love not necessarily romantic love, but the kind of psychological investment that reveals what has occupied the mind. Because you cannot spend this much time watching someone, discussing someone, analysing someone and reacting to someone without admitting, at least to yourself, that they have taken up space inside you. And that is what makes the hatred so strange. You say you hate Thandeka, but you know what she does, what she says, who she talks to, how she reacts, what she wears, what she posts and apparently every flaw in her character. You have built an entire surveillance department around a woman you insist is irrelevant to you. 😂 Imagine waking up every day and voluntarily giving your peace to someone you supposedly cannot stand. Imagine allowing a person you dislike to dictate your mood, your conversations and your online behaviour. At some point, you have to ask yourself whether this is really hatred or whether you simply don't know what to do with the amount of attention she occupies in you. And honestly, it is sad. Because life is too short to become an expert on someone you despise. There are books you could read, wounds you could heal, relationships you could nurture, a self you could actually get to know. Instead, some of you have chosen to dedicate an alarming amount of your existence to monitoring Thandeka. And before you get offended, sit with that thought for a moment. Sometimes the people we insist we hate reveal more about us than they ever could about themselves. You don't have to like Thandeka. You don't even have to understand her. But if you genuinely hate her, why are you giving her so much of your life? Because from where I am standing, she seems to be living in your head completely rent-free. And the saddest part is that she probably doesn't even know you're there. 😭
