“The government must protect the budget for heat pump grants” The £7,500 grant helps households install heat pumps. Nesta says keeping it is essential as gas prices rise and households look to cut bills. Andrew Sissons of Nesta spoke to Nick Abbot on LBC.

When gas generation is low, wholesale electricity prices tend to be low. When gas generation is high, wholesale prices tend to be high. So where exactly is the evidence that generating MORE electricity from gas will make electricity CHEAPER? We should be asking for evidence, not slogans.

NEW: Another demand downgrade in the latest IEA oil market report Previously, IEA said a rebound in 2027 would outweigh the Homuz-related drop in 2026 Now, it sees oil failing to make up lost ground next year – demand will remain below 2025 levels

Needs to spend 50bn on heat pump rollout and not gas price subsidies ad infinitum #NetZeroisEnergySecurity
New Ofgem head Tim Jarvis says, looking at gas prices and what's going on in the Middle East, that it's going to be a "difficult winter". Says consumers will need "some help" at the upcoming Budget.

electricitycosts.org.uk/elec… Feel free to pursue at your leisure dave Have a nice day
Nope their contracts are called contracts for difference and they get a fixed "strike price" for the lifetime of the project In 2025and 26 this was 6.5p/KWh I'm sorry you're not familiar with the UK market prices. You're coming across as very entitled.

Well I don't think I'll be posting about my warm house/ heat pump consumption after today Was piled on & accused of bragging, cherry picking & lying. I wasn't doing anything of the sort. Just posted in case anyone was thinking of buying one and wanted to ask questions.

Seems only fair for Fossil Fools like David Turver, Latimer Alder, Richard 'Lyin' Lyon, Katherine whatsherface to talk about Wind when it's providing surplus energy which we are selling to Europe, and bringing our cost/MWh down to £60-100MWh Right, @Tw_timerAlder ?

Another great day for #renewables output, I believe this is the 7th or 8th day over 30 GW this year. Keeping gas use well down #NetZero

Good news. This will strike fear into the energy cranks & fossil shills. Renewables are reducing energy import dependence in many countries. Solar will be the world’s dominant source of electricity generation The age of electrification is accelerating. about.bnef.com/insights/clea…

43–0. GAS PEAKERS JUST LOST THE ECONOMIC ARGUMENT. Wood Mackenzie's latest research finds four-hour batteries now beat new gas peakers on levelised costs in all 43 markets modelled. And here's the delicious irony: AI's electricity boom is driving up gas turbine prices, while battery manufacturing scales and costs keep falling. In the US, batteries are already 65–75% cheaper on this measure. Solar disrupted generation. Batteries are now disrupting peak power. One technology rides an accelerating cost curve. The other fights rising costs and supply bottlenecks. The energy transition isn't waiting for permission. Economics is doing the heavy lifting. #SWB #BatteryStorage #Disruption

Batteries. I’m getting in deep. We are basically watching Moore's Law re-manifest in physical electrochemistry. When BESS stationary storage pack prices tumbled past $70/kWh and tier-1 Chinese LFP cells hit the $30–$40/kWh floor, the economics crossed a permanent tipping point.

Batteries knocking gas off the peaking power market, because they are cheaper to run 👇
Pretty remarkable to see a record delivery of battery power and capacity, then have portfolio revenues increase. A sign of the shape of power prices and tension coming from the gas market.

“I’ll never drive an EV because climate change is a scam!!” Hear it all the time. So? They are far cheaper to operate whether you believe climate change is real or not. I drive EVs because they are far better for my health and the health of my family.

Re NHS productivity, I posted a graph of MRI scanners per capita, showing that the UK is 28th on the list due to lack of investment during the Tory austerity years. I thought I ought to post the reference statista.com/statistics/2824…
