Next week we’re hosting a #crisis meeting with leaders from politics, music, festivals, sport & insurance to discuss the importance of live events insurance. Thank you to @julianknight15, @jnjokugoodwin & others for attending. Together, let’s #LetLIVEThrive

1) Yesterday, @OliverDowden told @CommonsDCMS "Once we get to [June 21st]... if it's the case that events still cannot go ahead because of a lack of insurance… then we stand ready to look at if we can use government intervention." This gets it the wrong way round. Here's why 👇

2) Insurance cannot be the last piece of the jigsaw - it has to be the first 🧩 @julianknight15 It provides the foundation of security from which event planners book venues, pay suppliers & hire staff, knowing that they won't lose their homes ❌ Last minute action won't cut it.

3) Whilst too many live events have already been cancelled, there is still time for @RishiSunak & @OliverDowden to pull us back from the brink & save the #GreatBritishSummer. Let's get round the table and sort out a gvt-backed insurance scheme. Let's #LetLIVEThrive 🎸🏉💒🎭
.@BSTHydePark was meant to take place in just over 𝟴 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝘀. But, as with many other #LiveEvents, it had to cancel ❌ #LetLIVEThrive are calling on @RishiSunak & @OliverDowden to provide a gvt-backed insurance scheme so that event organisers can plan ahead for the summer ☀️
“Fans are eager to return to shows, and venues can deliver the fan experience safely. There is one final hurdle... and that relates to insurance." Insurance is "critical to support the entire #LiveMusic ecosystem.” John Langford, AEG Europe's chief, speaking to @Access_AA 👇

𝟲𝟲 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀. That's how long it was between today & the start of @RamblinManFair 2021. Now it's cancelled ❌ Why? One reason was the lack of a "government backed insurance scheme". #LiveEvents 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙 insurance to go ahead - without it, other cancellations will follow 🛑
A government-backed insurance scheme will help live events to plan with confidence for the summer ☀️ Three major Northern Irish festivals, @Stendhalireland, #OpenHouseFestival & #BelsonicFestival have backed one, so why can't @RishiSunak & @OliverDowden? bbc.in/3vTSmuj

Today would've been 𝟗𝟔 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬 until @BoomtownFair ❌ #Festivals taking place in July & August must commit "substantial, non-refundable costs" by the end of this month - @AIF_UK. 📢 Without government-backed insurance, further cancellations will come bit.ly/3b81OCD

🏳️‍🌈 #ICYMI Yesterday @PrideBrighton cancelled their iconic LGBT+ event. Its director said that "without the safety net of viable COVID cancelation insurance, we cannot jeopardise our ability to deliver a sustainable fundraising Pride in future years" bit.ly/2R2l4ud

As we've said before - due to a market failure in the insurance market - only a government-backed scheme can give organisers the financial security they need to plan ahead this #summer. @hmtreasury & @DCMS must act to protect jobs, spur growth & save the #GreatBritishSummer ☀️
Shocking stats from @AIF_UK, reported by @tobithomas_: ❌ 𝟐𝟔% of #festivals with a capacity of 5000+ people have been cancelled this year ❌ Without a government-backed insurance scheme, 𝟕𝟔% of remaining festivals could be called off too ⏱️ bit.ly/2QYGSH7

Yesterday would have been 𝟓𝟎 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬 until @glastonbury & today we mark 𝟑𝟎 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬 until the originally planned date for @DownloadFest 2021. After a tough year, the government must insure other organisers against crippling financial risk & #LetLIVEThrive this #summer.
50 days from today would have been the start of #Glastonbury Festival 2021 ⏱️ Let's be clear: @glastonbury's cancellation was not inevitable. If provided with a government-backed insurance scheme, organisers will be able to plan ahead with confidence for the #Summer ☀️

As @emilyeavis warned in January, event planners need insurance to overcome the "huge risk" of late cancellation & financial ruin. It's time for @hmtreasury & @DCMS to step up - before more unnecessary cancellations take place. bit.ly/3nIjo5a
At first glance, this looks like good news for live events. It would be if the government had solved the problem of insurance and created a government-backed scheme like the @CommonsDCMS called for LAST JULY. ⏱️Time is running out⏱️
EXC: Boris Johnson to be given an ‘interim report’ about the reopening trials next week Will be told social distancing could be scrapped for large events by June 21 if mitigating measures in place Ie possibly packed crowds at football, concerts, theatre! telegraph.co.uk/politics/202…

Hopefully @benrileysmith would be interested in why so many events will still be ❌cancelled❌ despite the results of the Events Research Programme. It is sadly already too late for some @BoomtownFair @DeerShed @ShambalaFest. No insurance = No event.
"We've been holding out for government intervention, hoping that they would... back COVID-19 cancellation insurance policies. Sadly, this has not happened in time" Devastating news for all involved with @Beatherder #Festival. Another unnecessary #LiveMusic cancellation❌
❤️❤️Beat Herder Family❤️❤️ We are utterly gutted & heart-broken to announce the postponement of the 2021 festival. We hope you can stay with us for the 2022 coming together extravaganza party we're all needing. Until then - STAY SAFE & HERD EM UP xx *please read full statement*

21% of UK #MusicFestivals with 5,000+ capacity take place in the South West - and most of them are facing some "very tough decisions" in the weeks ahead. Thank you @itvwestcountry for highlighting how important government-backed insurance is for live events this summer 👇

#LetLIVEThrive are pushing for a government-backed insurance scheme for live events. But, what does that mean? 🏉 Govt & insurance industry fix market failure 🎭 Govt becomes insurer of last resort 💒 Govt benefits from Insurance Premium Tax 🎸 Unlock £9.1bn in economic value
