Our year-long investigation into Stake's advertising empire uncovered influencers' higher win rates and the house money they gamble with. Those wins get clipped and scattered across the internet, showcasing an impossible fantasy
It's also today's @business Big Take
NEW @BW feature on Stake: the world's largest crypto casino. Our year-long piece dives into Stake employing superstar influencers such as Drake and Adin Ross to livestream gambling.

To do this we needed to audit each streamer's gameplay. We used an LLM to capture balance, bet and game played every 4s of stream. We manually verified each streamer's balance over time and calculated their spins to wins. Read more in our methodology: bloomberg.com/news/features/…

Bloomberg reviewed +1K hours of YouTube vids from 9 popular streamers and podcasters who cater to American men. We analyzed 2 yrs of guests and transcripts to see how they discussed political topics and understand their role as a new mainstream info hub bloomberg.com/graphics/2025-…
Hosts don’t style themselves as political-- guests are primarily comedians, influencers, athletes, musicians, but they booked more politicians and pundits b4 the election and these guests disproportionately get the most views (30% of top 30) despite being 1/8 of 900+ guests.

For years, a teenager terrorized the US with a chilling weapon: his voice. His swatting calls sent armed police racing to hundreds of schools, fearing they were about to face a mass shooter
This is the story of the private investigator who took him down

AI-detectors seem near-perfect on paper, yet falsely flag students with high confidence. We FOIA'd anonymized college applications essays to independently test popular tools. @jackiedavalos1 spoke with students and teachers about education in the AI-era.

A new(ish) part of my job at Bloomberg involves overseeing tech data investigations. That means I get to work with incredible reporters, editors and graphics folks on stuff like this. Please read about how this NYC driver minimum wage law went awry:

In order to get around minimum wage laws in New York, where drivers are supposed to be paid for time on the clock in between rides, Uber and Lyft are simply locking them out of the app so there's no record that they're on the roads at that time.
Incredible, infuriating story.
