I’m still not quite ready to share the full AR project I’ve been building for @Snapchat + @Spectacles — but I can finally show off one of the internal tools that came out of it. One of the biggest bottlenecks I kept hitting was UI creation inside Lens Studio. Building complex interactive views was slow, tedious, and honestly painful to iterate on. Even trying to brute force it with AI tools like Claude wasn’t getting me where I wanted. So after a week of hacking on the problem, I built my own solution: LensDesigner. LensDesigner is a full WYSIWYG editor for building interactive scene UI for Lens Studio projects. It connects directly to an existing Lens Studio project (or sandbox project), gives you a live preview pipeline, and lets you rapidly design and iterate on custom AR views in minutes instead of hours. There’s still a long roadmap ahead before it supports everything I want, but even in its current state it already removed one of the biggest roadblocks I had.
