The pitch clock is a major factor. Shortening recovery time between pitches has not been better for health/arm fatigue. The game has been played at a max effort level for a long time. Pitch clock started in the minors well before mlb and has a compounding effect. Add 5 seconds
About MLB's report on pitching injuries: None of it will shift the trajectory of the problem. There will continue to be incentive for pitchers/teams to pursue maximum velocity, maximum spin. If anyone is serious about changing course, the only way is to compel teams to use pitchers for longer outings. If that happens, then pitchers/teams will explore ways to be effective with less than maximum velo/spin.

For all of the grief umpires take, it's worth saying that they are by and large extremely good at an extremely difficult job -- and no one was better than Pat Hoberg last night. In the World Series no less, he spun the first perfect game since @UmpScorecards started in 2015.
🚨PERFECT GAME🚨
