MAJOR UPDATE: All planetary boundaries are assessed, and six are crossed. For the first time ever, scientists have quantified all nine planetary boundaries. Six of them are already transgressed and we are increasing pressure on the others. Read more: buff.ly/45Ps1QG

Please don't kill peaceful protesters for blocking your vehicle! You don't have to stay calm, but assault is illegal. Protesters don't like that they have to do this either. But they are desperate because nothing really worked the past 40 years. xitter.cf/filepschulz/status/167…

🚨 Placards ripped up and banners snatched away, as peaceful supporters of Just Stop Oil face aggression this morning. 🛢️ We march in civil resistance against our genocidal government. If our government halted all new oil, gas and coal licences, we wouldn't have to do this.

If you are experiencing climate despair, anxiety or hopelessness, take a few minutes to listen to Clover Hogan’s very powerful and inspiring words and learn how despair is the latest weapon of the fossil fuel industry to protect their business. 🧵 1/4

“The results are there: in 10 years, car traffic has decreased by 40%, and pollution by 45%. #Paris now has more than 1,120 km of cycle paths, compared to 200 km in 2001.” — Paris Mayor @Anne_Hidalgo. But the mayor wants to do much more to specifically prioritize pedestrians.

It’s still a BIG problem that because of car manufacturing influence, most media & political energy goes to EVs, with not NEARLY enough going to fewer cars/less driving. But the priority HAS to be the latter, the part of the solution that will actually do much more public good.

One of the most simple and powerful city-building projects your city could do would be to transform its street intersections to prioritize people and life over cars and speed. We know how. It just takes will. Graphic via the always clever @LiorSteinberg.

@Syklistenes @eivindtraedal @sirinstav
Never forget, a 13-year study found that protected bike-lanes led to a drastic decline in fatalities for all road users. ALL ROAD USERS. And painted bike-lanes? No safety improvement at all. For sharrows, it’s safer to NOT have them. Via @StreetsblogUSA usa.streetsblog.org/2019/05/…

I latterlig omfang.
