Gaza City is preparing for what could be one of the largest and deadliest funeral processions of the war, as families gather to bury 112 members of the Abu Sharia family. Their bodies were recovered from the rubble of a residential building in the Al-Sabra neighbourhood, where they had remained buried for nearly three years. Civil defence teams spent 136 continuous hours digging through the debris to recover the victims, many of them women and children, highlighting the devastating toll on entire families. Rescuers believe the tragedy extends even further, with an estimated 200 more relatives still trapped beneath nearby collapsed buildings. In some cases, the force of the strike was so great that no identifiable remains could be recovered. The mass burial stands as one of the most significant of the conflict, underscoring the immense loss that continues to emerge from beneath Gaza's ruins.
