Recently, I had the privilege of discussing @LegalDataIntel at @ILTANet alongside Adam Rouse, Laura Kibbe, and Scott Milner. ICYMI, the biggest takeaways from our discussion:
1. Job descriptions in our field are lagging behind reality. Everyone in the audience and on the panel had been asked to do things outside of their role. Maybe it’s time we update our job descriptions? :-)
2. Many of us have spent a decade at the intersection of law and AI, working on various "use cases." However, focusing on individual use cases misses the bigger picture: these challenges share more commonalities than differences.
3. We can shift from reactive panic to proactive control by recognizing patterns in problems we face. This requires breaking down data and personnel silos to leverage collective experience and expertise. From “How do I handle this problem?" "Which people or technologies should I use?" "What about the risks?” to “This problem is very similar to this other problem we have handled."
4. Legal departments are poised to transform from cost centers to value drivers. AI will catalyze this shift in unprecedented ways, requiring a fundamental rethink of how we build and implement technology in this brand-new world.
What are your thoughts on these developments? Have you been asked to handle something outside of your job description? #LegalTech #AI #LegalDataIntelligence
