35.1M legal rows indexed.
26.9M are case law.
6.5M are legislation.
Legal AI does not need better vibes. It needs current primary sources, citable cases, and provenance.
I am working on the boring part.
My database holds 67.5M legal documents.
6.57M more indexed since 29 September, including:
+1,645,300 Indian High Court judgments
+385,252 Brazil TJDFT decisions
+355,186 Czech court decisions
+335,618 Chilean legislative documents
+220,039 Romanian legislative documents
An agent on client A’s matter should not see client B’s files.
Properly isolated Claude Code/Codex workspaces make that scope explicit. The iManage integration challenge is preserving it, even when the lawyer has access to both. xitter.cf/satyanadella/status/21…
I recently wrote about why we need to treat models as insider risks, with security controls sitting outside the model itself.
Today, we're putting that principle into practice by expanding Project Perception with new capabilities to help continuously assess agent risk, adapt permissions, and contain threats.

A firm’s most valuable AI training data may be the work nobody publishes: the first draft, the partner’s corrections and why they made them.
That could give firms building their own tools a real advantage, provided the material can be reused. xitter.cf/FT/status/211039854152…
FT Exclusive: Senior Freshfields partners discussed carving out the firm’s legal AI unit Freshfields Lab and opening it up to external investors, hoping to create a company 'worth billions', according to an internal email exchange. ft.trib.al/9DgUFwK
One reason legal AI is hard to train: many legal questions have no single checkable answer.
You can verify a citation. Deciding whether an argument is good is harder.
Glad to see Anthropic bringing legal scholars into that work. xitter.cf/AnthropicAI/status/211…
Applications are now open for two new Anthropic Fellowships.
STEM Fellows (science and engineering) and Conceptual Reasoning Fellows (philosophy, cognitive science, economics, policy, and law) will spend four months at Anthropic from January 2027, working to help Claude reason well about some of the hardest problems in those fields.
For more information, see the descriptions below. The application deadline is October 28.

I’m partnering with Microsoft for the launch of Copilot for legal.
Primary legal sources from around the world, closer to where lawyers work. xitter.cf/MSFTCopilot/status/211…
Give your legal team a head start. Use Copilot in Word to draft agreements and review contracts against your standards, or Cowork to take on broader, multi-step work across contracts, emails, meetings, and files.
Your trusted sources. Your standards. Your final say. msft.it/6012atyxG
Active Memory sounds promising.

GLM-Legal outscoring GPT-6 Astra and Claude Fable 5 on Harvey LAB is impressive.
I wonder how.
Introducing GLM-Legal
Built on GLM-5.3-Flash, GLM-Legal matches frontier models on mainstream legal benchmarks.

Anthropic reports that an agent invented a police tip and submitted it. It was caught as spam.
Now imagine clerks and public agencies having to sort genuine submissions from plausible stories invented by agents. Who pays for that extra work? xitter.cf/AnthropicAI/status/210…
We’re beginning a process of publishing more frequent reports on model behavior, beyond what appears in our system cards and regular risk reports.
Today’s report describes four types of behaviors we’ve identified during evaluations and internal use. In each, Claude acted on real websites or systems in ways we didn’t intend, sometimes by working around a restriction instead of stopping.
All cases had minimal real-world impact. From an alignment and security perspective, we consider these behaviors significantly less severe than the cybersecurity incidents we reported in July and September.

This is what “it depends on the jurisdiction” looks like. xitter.cf/claudeai/status/210827…
Law firms should buy tools that keep them sovereign over their workflows and data.
They should be able to plug in a model, data source or specialist service, then swap it out without rebuilding how the firm works. xitter.cf/willchen500/status/210…
One ironic part of legal AI is that VCs poured billions of dollars (and continue to pour more) into legal AI SaaS (Harvey and Legora) which was sold to Biglaw, and Biglaw duly bought in because these tools were sold as best in class.
Then about 2 years later the same VCs started funding AI native firms, who predominantly use the base AI apps (Claude and ChatGPT) and build their own custom tools. The goal of these firms, as is explicitly made clear by the essays of VCs that fund them, is to supplant traditional Biglaw. And these firms won't touch Harvey and Legora.
So Harvey and Legora end up in this weird place where they are supposedly the most advanced legal AI tools in the market, but also the most AI forward law firms funded by the same VC firms won't use them. They thus become a marker of older incumbent firms and enterprises.
This is exactly why my legal database is built for your own AI agents to query directly.
You don’t need to use my AI agents. Use yours. I’ll supply the legal documents. xitter.cf/zackbshapiro/status/21…
Just uninstalled the @goclio plugin for ChatGPT Astra. My firm uses Clio, but this is total garbage:
(1) The only genuinely useful part of this kind of application would be to headlessly control Clio (i.e. give a prompt to ChatGPT that allows ChatGPT to make time entries, prepare bills, etc.), but this functionality is fully blocked unless you sign up for Clio's upsell into their crappy internal AI, VIncent.
(2) Even worse, the way the plugin works is that if I ask Astra for a legal research question (which I often do, since Astra is terrific at legal research) it now routes that question *to Vincent* (Vincent is not so terrific at legal research).
Total missed opportunity by Clio to build for the AI-Native era of legal services. It feels like they are prioritizing near-term revenue (I.e. upselling to the version of Clio Work that includes Vincent) over the type of long-term UI that will make them sticky as lawyers increasingly interface with AI agents and chatbots to get legal work done.
I have a new homepage.

My database crossed 60 million legal documents.
I’ve been going deeper into collections already on my map: Brazilian court decisions, US federal opinions and European Parliament questions and answers.
Back to work.
From 52 million to 58 million legal documents in a week.
I have been filling gaps in existing collections: Chinese criminal cases, Brazilian court decisions, German case law and UK tax manuals.
The hunt continues.

@OpenAI launched Astra for Law yesterday with @harvey as a plugin, which means you can now ask OpenAI to ask Harvey to ask… possibly OpenAI?
I’m only partly kidding, and I’m genuinely excited about Astra for Law. I’m especially glad to see plugins from @LegalDataHunter and @FreeLawProject's CourtListener, both doing important work to make valuable legal and regulatory data more accessible.
But the Spider-Men raise a serious question: is the underlying model becoming the least interesting part of a legal AI product?
This is exactly the kind of thing we’ll be discussing at @hannolabs Legal AI Office Hours next Friday at 2 p.m. ET. Join us: us02web.zoom.us/meeting/regi…
I am partnering with @OpenAI to bring worldwide legal data into ChatGPT and Codex.
Missing a court, jurisdiction or source? Give me a lead. I’ll go hunt for it.
My database now holds over 52 million legal documents.
Recent additions include São Tomé and Príncipe’s Court of Audit, New Zealand broadcasting and healthcare decisions, and official Chickasaw, Cherokee, Navajo and Mashantucket Pequot sources.
The hunt continues.
