Same. Worked in factories to pay tuition, like parents. Outed by speech & taste. Got laughed at for mispronouncing words I had never heard spoken around me, side-eyed for thinking franchise restaurants were fancy (we thought so growing up), mocked for mainstream taste in music.

Don't be fooled by the hype. This is THREE HOURS of turgid, lugubrious shots of unpleasant, unattractive, clinically depressed rich people ineptly manipulating each another. Possibly the most boring movie I've ever seen. Much left unexplained but who cares, the stakes are so low.
‘YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING’ debuts with $15M in its opening weekend domestically.
The documentary was released in just 855 screens.

People are complaining about no good leftist analysis on the riots in France. Don’t do that. Read these instead.

Your 30s are a weird time because you start to see which of your peers & comrades are really about it and who was just having a rebellious phase on the way to becoming their evil parents… like what happened to class treachery, guys? :(

I hope that Toronto hospitals will take this blatant vile anti-Black racism at least as seriously as they take their staff speaking out against genocide.

The wildest part about poverty is how much time it steals. Waiting for buses. Calling assistance offices. Comparing grocery prices. Fighting insurance. Sitting at laundromats. Being poor is a second job nobody pays you for.

Now would be a good time to reacquaint yourself with Elizabeth Schambelan's writing on fraternities, male bonding, gang rape, and the relationship between hazing and counterinsurgency 🧵:

With the evolving Cornell University story, I have been reflecting on my fourth and final year at St. Thomas University in 2015 in Fredericton.
One of my professors, Jan Wong, wanted some of our class to work on an investigative series on rape on campus.

The man who strangled & raped me is @NColemanMD. After I confronted him, he changed his name from Nathan Coleman, MD & locked his account. He also masturbates at work while looking at patient radiological images & talking to coworkers. He is actively sliding into DMs.

It's the language of someone who's shifting rightward, Taylor. "Narrow minded", "tiny bubble" & "cancel" are words we've all herd from the mouths of David Rubin, Meghan Murphy, Matt Taibbi, & Naomi Wolf before they pivoted to the right. You look like you're heading there.

I don't ascribe to any political group for this reason. I think it's extremely narrow minded to only engage w a tiny bubble of ppl and do cancel culture slop on anyone who steps out of your tiny little box. I have and always will engage with people across the political spectrum

living in fascistic times means fascism seeps into every facet and crevice of culture and society. nothing escapes it - not food, fitness, beauty or interpersonal relationships. cultures, micro and macro, are shaped by political realities, policies and the migration of attitudes. our cultures absorb these things, are transformed by it & then reproduce the ideas.
Gramsci’s work on hegemony really underscores this: any political order becomes most powerful when its ideology ceases to look like ideology and starts looking like common sense.

Since some of you are willing to take an actual enemy from the Manhattan Institute at his word, instead of @realLandsEnd here’s the portion right after he cut the video: “ Revolution is sustained by care work, networks of food distribution, medicine, transportation, shelter
🚨 “The More Dysgenic, the Better”: Beatrice Adler-Bolton Says the Left Must Give Up the “Fantasy of Being Fitter Than the Fascists”
At Socialism 2026, Adler-Bolton argues that “fitness is a measure of relative disposability under capitalism” and says the goal should not be to become “more useful to the ruling order.”
She says the left should not try to beat fascists “at their own game” by becoming “fitter, more eugenic.”
“In fact, the more dysgenic, the better, I think.”
She closes by arguing that revolution is not “a contest between optimized and properly prepared bodies” and that the very idea is itself fascist.

You want to know what actual toughness looks like?
It looks like a Vietnamese woman in a tunnel, three meters underground, while B-52s try to collapse the earth above her, continuing to work.
It looks like a Cuban doctor going to West Africa during an Ebola outbreak when Western governments were still arguing about who should go.
It looks like a Chilean socialist, Salvador Allende, broadcasting on the radio as the coup closes in, telling his people that he will not resign, that he will not flee, that history is on their side, and then dying at his post.
It looks like the people of Gaza continuing to document their own deaths so the world cannot say it did not know.
It does not look like a man in a bunker giving the order for an airstrike on people who cannot reach him.
It does not look like a government that tortures prisoners and then classifies the evidence.
It does not look like an empire that can destroy a country from 30,000 feet and calls the distance from the consequences "strategic."
The people with the most weapons in the room are almost never the toughest people in the room.
The toughest people in the room are almost always the ones who had no weapons and remained standing anyway.
History is extremely consistent on this point.
If a US general perpetrated what Mladic did, a 3-year siege of a major city that targeted civilians & an orchestrated massacre of unarmed men & boys (say Gen. Petraeus, Franks, or Kurilla) many Serbs would argue *for* the Hague. They know it's fucked up, they just don't care.

Finally, Serbs show some European values.
In Novi Sad, ordinary people tore down Serbian Radical Party posters glorifying Ratko Mladić on the anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide.
This is the Serbia I want to see more of: people refusing to turn a convicted genocidaire into a national hero and refusing to let extremists speak in their name. Respect.
