MTC Objects to Starlink Licence Application in Namibia MTC Namibia has formally objected to Starlink Internet Services Namibia’s application for a telecommunications service licence and spectrum licences, warning that approval would violate the Communications Act and undermine national interests. In an official letter to the Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN), MTC argued that Starlink’s satellite-based operating model is incompatible with Namibia’s regulatory framework, particularly requirements on lawful interception, spectrum monitoring, quality of service and universal access. MTC further criticised CRAN for classifying Starlink’s full application as confidential, saying this undermined transparency and meaningful public participation. The company highlighted Starlink’s past unlawful operations in Namibia, noting that CRAN had previously issued a cease-and-desist order and confiscated illegal terminals. According to MTC, Starlink’s pricing model is unaffordable for most Namibians and would not advance universal access. It also warned of risks to national security, data sovereignty, fair competition, and local investment. MTC concluded that Starlink fails to meet statutory criteria and that its application must be refused under Section 39 of the Act. Report: Peneyambeko N Jonas

South Africa must document its history properly, or we risk people even denying apartheid ever happened. We need more documentaries and demographic data—without them, we leave the narrative to those with influence to shape the country as they see fit.

On behalf of the African National Congress (ANC), I would like to express my deepest condolences to the family, friends, and fans of Victor Bogopane, known to us all as Doc Shebeleza. His passing at the age of 51 marks a profound loss for South Africa’s music industry and the nation as a whole. His contributions significantly shaped South Africa’s cultural landscape, providing a soundtrack to the lives of many during a transformative era in our country’s history. As we mourn his untimely departure, we also celebrate the rich legacy he leaves behind May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his family find comfort during this difficult time. Hamba kahle, Doc Shebeleza. 🕊️ #RIPDocShebeleza

Gutted to learn about the liquidation of the @dripsportif brand. This is not the time to pontificate about what @lekausehoana could have done better or where it all went wrong. Only he can tell that story. It's HIS(s)tory. There are not many who have taken the entrepreneurial road less travelled that he so boldly took to start a brand that challenged non-African brands in its category. There are not many people who've dared to start anything; to create a worthy business and jobs, nationally. Of course there are lessons learnt. Of course it's sad that the business has been liquidated and jobs lost. But his guts have not been liquidated. His ability to rise, fall and rise again have not been liquidated. His pioneering spirit has not been liquidated. He is not the first anywhere in the world to start something and have it go all wrong. In building the Drip brand he inspired other young entrepreneurs, the 70% of the continent that's under 30 years, to do something, start something and be something; rather than blame the system. Failure is not final. It's an opportunity to start again. Wiser. As Theodore Roosevelt once put it: "Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat."

paternity tests should be standard procedure for all child births. Married or unmarried. Men should stop cowering to the “so you don’t trust me Baby” manipulation or similar lines. Nothing so painful when a child is sick only to find out the mother pointed the wrong father.
