Here's what Leatherface's original killing mask looks like today from The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974).
Draft papers in the glove box. Wrong turn on the map. Dinner plans you didn’t make. Happy 20th to the prequel that showed how the Hewitts got started in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006).
Filmed around Round Rock, Bastrop, Leander, and Watterson. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre premiered in Austin on October 1, 1974 and it's still the loudest thing the Lone Star State ever put on film.
You’ve SAW the originals, the remakes, the 3D, the prequels… which movie still makes you check the locks?

And nobody knows where the money went.
(The Mob. It went to the Mob.)
They said it was too raw. Too cheap. Too nasty. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) made tens of millions, and became one of the most profitable indie horror films ever. Suck on that, Hollywood.

Franklin vs. the Porch
No score swell, no cheap cut. Just a guy realizin' his friends would rather explore and have fun, than help him. Which Franklin then responds aggressively by mimickin' the Hitchhiker, they encountered earlier in the van.
The raspberries. The muttered curses. The way the laughter upstairs just keeps goin'. That’s not comic relief, it's a character bein' dismantled in front of you. That’s when The Texas Chain Saw Massacre stopped from bein' a slasher and cuts much deeper. Essential cinema!
