Before prepackaged flower became the norm, deli-style was a staple of early legalization. Big jars behind the counter allowed you to actually see and smell the flower, choose your amount, and watch it get weighed out in front of you.
Today, only around half of adult-use states still allow some form of deli-style service. In Arizona, we got to experience that tradition firsthand at Ponderosa, following Animal Tree from legendary cultivator Sonoran Roots’ grow rooms all the way to the deli jar.
Now, Ponderosa is entering a new chapter as its dispensaries become JARS, merging Sonoran Roots into the JARS family and uniting two major Arizona cannabis operators under one roof.
We’re looking back on our time with Ponderosa as it was, and looking forward to seeing what JARS and Sonoran Roots build together from here!

For our new Grower’s Spotlight series, we caught up with Jason Gellman of @ridgelinefarms to talk about the strain everyone’s buzzing about: Blueberry Caviar
A cross between Ridgeline’s legendary Lantz and Compound Genetics’ Grape Gas, Blueberry Caviar is the latest breakout from one of Humboldt’s most celebrated growers, and the noise it's making is BERRY LOUD.
The strain has become a personal favorite of Woody Harrelson and was pheno-hunted in collaboration with @berner415 for Cookies, who has chosen it as the foundation for an entire new Blueberry line. It’ll be hitting the shelves in the next couple months!
Hear Jason talk about why Blueberry Caviar is so special, and check out Leafly for more iconic strains!

In this episode of Leafly’s Legendary Strains, we sent Lindsay MaHarry high into the hills of Southern Humboldt to visit Canna Country Farms, a multigenerational, family-run farm breeding some of the most unique genetics in California, including #26.
Also known as the Ocimene Queen, #26 crosses Forbidden Fruit with Canna Country’s proprietary Cherimoya strain, producing galaxy-hued nugs, tropical terps, and an absolutely wild 46% ocimene dominance. According to SC Labs, less than 1% of the 250,000 samples they’ve tested contain concentrations that high.
A dazzling profile paired with her social, zingy 📷 that’s made #26 a personal favorite of our host.
And then there’s that color.

In this episode of Leafly’s Legendary Strains, we sent Lindsay MaHarry blazing into the Arizona desert to visit @GrowSciences where craft passion, commercial scale, and a relentless hunt for epic genetics collide in strains like Breaking Point
Their Wonka-esque facility produces everything from flower and rosin to extracts and edibles, complete with flowering rooms, a dedicated pheno-hunting zone, a double-decker veg room, an intricate organic fertigation system, and an ice-cold hash-making wonderland.
But the real reason we came was Breaking Point, a brand-new standout that crosses Coffee Creamer × Point Break into frosty violet flower with creamy coffee cake terps, and an uplifting, whimsical high to match.
With ’90s music blasting, happy plants, and a stoked crew hand-trimming fire, Grow Sciences still feels alive in all the right ways. As Grow Sciences has grown, their passion for the plant has, too.

75,000 people. 700 exhibitors. One city transformed into the center of the global cannabis conversation.
Mary Jane Berlin ( @hanfmesse ) is the largest cannabis event in the world, offering a wide-angle look at where the international industry is headed. From Germany's evolving legalization model and Europe's fantastic hash to the global influence of Northern California genetics, one thing was impossible to miss: beyond the cynicism of the U.S. market, the plant is still in an era of possibility.
Watch Part 1 of our reporting from Germany, and stay tuned for Part 2, where we head to an ancient castle on the borders of Germany, Czechia, and Poland for the @en_vola Very Happy retreat, where some of the world's leading cannabis creators, cultivators, and advocates gathered to celebrate how far the movement has come, and imagine what’s next.
For more than a decade, Leafly has documented the genetics, history, flavors, effects, and cultural impact of the cannabis strains that have shaped our world. We've interviewed the breeders, visited the farms, traced the family trees, and watched new legends emerge in real time.
So when it came to assembling our list of the greatest strains of all time, answering one of the culture’s biggest questions, we took it seriously.
From timeless classics to modern bangers, here’s a current and definitive list of cultivars everyone should experience at least once in this lifetime.
