Stripe and Plasma partner on multi-currency stablecoin cards
der the collaboration, Plasma joins as a design partner while Stripe expands its stablecoin card infrastructure to additional fiat currencies, stablecoins, and markets. The stated objective is to let cardholders spend in the currencies they already hold, limit unnecessary conversions and foreign exchange (FX) costs, and make spending abroad as straightforward as spending at home.
Plasma is building a financial account for people whose lives span multiple countries, assets, and businesses, with everyday spending as its initial focus. In its capacity as design partner, the company will work with Stripe to shape the card experience around how these customers manage and use their money across borders. Paul Faecks, CEO of Plasma, said the partnership gives the company the opportunity to develop cards based on how internationally mobile users live and spend, with the aim of allowing them to spend like locals wherever they are.
Expanded currency and market coverage
Stripe’s stablecoin card infrastructure will support five fiat currencies: USD, BRL, EUR, MXN, and COP. On the stablecoin side, it will support OUSD alongside eligible stablecoins described as GENIUS-ready. In addition, the offering is available in more than 30 countries, with plans to extend coverage to more than 100 countries in 2027.
The practical change concerns how non-dollar balances are handled at the point of spending. A cardholder holding euros, for example, will be able to spend directly in EUR rather than converting through USD first. Businesses operating across several markets will be able to issue cards denominated in currencies that match their spending needs, which the companies expect to reduce unnecessary FX costs. thepaypers.com/crypto-web3-a…
Payoneer Research Finds Stablecoin Moving Beyond Payments as Marketplaces Build New Financial Services
LAS VEGAS, Oct. 19, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Payoneer (NASDAQ: PAYO), the global financial technology company powering business growth across borders, today announced Stablecoin Steps Up, a new research report, at Money20/20. The report examines how marketplaces and enterprises are putting stablecoin to work, the benefits they are seeing, and the barriers to broader adoption. Among respondents, 69% use stablecoin operationally, including 41% at meaningful scale, and 82% expect it to become part of their financial infrastructure within three years.
Conducted in September 2026, the research surveyed 265 senior payments, treasury, and finance leaders at US-based marketplaces, platforms, and enterprises with $100 million or more in annual revenue. All respondents were using, piloting, evaluating, or had previous experience with stablecoin, giving the report a close look at what happens as they move from exploration to value creation.
"Our research shows how marketplaces and enterprises are putting stablecoin to work to improve cross-border payments, manage treasury operations and build new financial experiences for their customers," said Rowland Berry, Vice President, Stablecoin, Payoneer. "As businesses expand beyond pilots, we believe their success is likely to depend on integrating stablecoin into existing systems, meeting regulatory requirements and ensuring recipients can access and use the money they receive."
The report looks past whether businesses have adopted stablecoin to how deeply those already using it are putting it to work, where they see value, and how they plan to expand:
• The gains show up in everyday operations: Among organizations using or piloting stablecoin, 50% report faster settlement, 41% cite better access to markets and currencies, and 40% cite a better experience for payment recipients. prnewswire.com/news-releases…

Goldman Sachs: MSCI threat could trigger US$5.6 billion in outflows
JAKARTA - Indonesia’s financial markets came under pressure after global index provider MSCI said it was considering removing Indonesian stocks from its global indexes. The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) plunged more than 5% on Monday (19 October), following an 11.6% decline on Friday (16 October). The index hit its lowest level in six years.
The pressure also spread to the foreign exchange and government bond markets. The rupiah weakened to IDR18,040 per US dollar, approaching its record low of IDR18,190 per US dollar recorded in June.
Meanwhile, the yield on 10-year government bonds rose to 7.4%, from 7.169% on Friday, according to market participants quoted by Reuters.
The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) said MSCI’s announcement had triggered market panic. To ease selling pressure, the IDX lowered the daily share price decline limit to 7% on Monday from its previous threshold.

Dung Quất EZ lands special free-trade zone Incentives
QUẢNG NGÃI — The Politburo has agreed in principle to grant the Dung Quất Economic Zone (EZ) in central Quảng Ngãi Province special mechanisms and policies similar to those applied to free trade zones in Hải Phòng and Đà Nẵng to pave the way for further investment in energy and heavy industry.
The provincial People’s Committee said on October 19 that the Politburo had agreed that the economic zone should benefit from mechanisms and incentives available to free trade zones as well as the highest incentives permitted under the Law on Urban Development.
The proposed incentives are intended to accelerate investment in refining, petrochemicals, shipbuilding and energy infrastructure, while addressing constraints related to land, planning, administrative procedures, technology and skilled labour.
Dung Quất, a major industrial hub in central Việt Nam supported by deep-water port facilities, currently has 296 active projects with total registered investment of more than VNĐ421.68 trillion (US$16.19 billion). Of these, 217 projects have become operational, with realised investment of around VNĐ282.46 trillion. vietnamnews.vn/economy/18023…
Banks ordered to cut deposit and lending rates
The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) has directed credit institutions to reduce interest rates and channel more funding into production and business activities, as part of efforts to maintain macroeconomic stability, control inflation and support economic growth.
In a document issued on October 18, the central bank instructed lenders to strictly comply with government regulations and directives on interest rates while cutting costs, sharing profits and implementing coordinated measures to lower the overall interest rate level.
As an immediate measure, banks must reduce listed deposit rates by at least 0.5 percentage points per year for maturities of six months or longer. The SBV also warned against aggressive deposit-rate increases and unhealthy competition that could destabilise financial and monetary markets.
For lending, credit institutions were instructed to lower interest rates for borrowers, with reductions of 1.5-2 percentage points per year targeted at production, business activities and priority sectors.
The central bank also called for safe and effective credit growth, directing funding towards productive businesses, priority industries and key drivers of economic expansion. en.vneconomy.vn/banks-ordere…
FTA opens up major opportunities for Norwegian seafood in Vietnam
On October 18, Vietnam and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) of which Norway is a member state, officially signed a Free Trade Agreement, marking a new milestone in economic and trade cooperation between the two sides.
For Norway, this development is significant in terms of expanding the market for seafood exports, a category that currently accounts for the bulk of the country’s total commodity exports to Vietnam.
The signing of the agreement comes at a time when demand for high-quality seafood in Vietnam continues to rise, particularly for products with transparent origins that meet rigorous food safety standards. This creates a favorable environment for Norwegian seafood companies to strengthen their market position, develop distribution networks, and gain greater access to the Vietnamese market. en.vneconomy.vn/fta-opens-up…

Oceans have traditionally been viewed as natural resources, transportation spaces, and geographically-strategic locations. Such perceptions, however, are undergoing significant change, since various activities, such as transportation and logistics; fishing and aquaculture; oil and gas exploration, exploitation, and transportation; renewable energy development; tourism services; marine industry; telecommunications infrastructure; scientific and biotechnology research; biodiversity conservation; and national defense and security strategy formulations; among others, are now taking place simultaneously in the same ocean location. Moreover, an increasing number of services are being provided based on marine data.
This perspective highlights the importance of the oceans in socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security, both globally and within each coastal nation.
With a sea area of over 1 million sq km and a coastline stretching more than 3,260 km, along with thousands of islands, Vietnam holds a particularly important geo-strategic position in Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific region as a whole. The country’s seas serve as both a space for survival and development, as well as a “fence” for national defense and security and a gateway for international exchange. The seas are therefore considered an important component of the national comprehensive strength.
Furthermore, as land development space approaches its limits, maritime development is an inexorable trend and an objective requirement to expand development space and assert national sovereignty, sovereign rights, and jurisdiction on the sea. en.vneconomy.vn/vietnam-econ…

Vietnam’s resort real estate market is changing from a race to expand supply toward building destinations, optimizing operations, and diversifying experiences. Developers are seeking to connect real estate with aviation, entertainment, hotels, retail, and services to create ecosystems that can operate more sustainably.
At the Meet the Experts conference (MTE Hanoi 2026), experts said Vietnam’s real estate and resort market is seeing growing interest in large-scale integrated developments. Developers with strong financial resources and experience in phased project development are moving beyond accommodation alone, combining hotels, second homes, retail, entertainment, and public spaces to create attractive destinations with diverse service ecosystems that can draw visitors.
This reinforces the market’s shift into a new phase of development, in which a project’s appeal is no longer determined solely by its location or product scale. Connectivity, visitor access, accommodation, entertainment, operations, and destination identity are becoming increasingly interconnected.
Building destinations
For the Sun Group, aviation is a key link in its strategy to develop destinations. Mr. Daniel Trinh, Deputy Chief Commercial Officer and Chief Business Development Officer, said the group currently operates across five sectors: entertainment, hospitality, healthcare, real estate, and aviation. Aviation is a challenging business, requiring significant capital, carrying high fuel costs, and facing considerable volatility. However, the Sun Group does not view it as a standalone business, but rather as a tool to create and expand destinations. en.vneconomy.vn/the-full-pac…

What if the biggest financial story isn't how much America owes, but how much America actually owns?
The U.S. Debt Clock is showing nearly $90,000 in proposed restitution per taxpayer, over $200 TRILLION hidden-wealth estimate, and something called the American Jubilee.
Now connect that with the Federal Reserve, America's national debt, and the possibility of a major monetary reform.
There's a bigger picture here. Let's connect the dots.

Copper-hungry US buyers circle Ivanhoe Electric mine
Ivanhoe Electric (NYSE-A, TSX: IE) is in advanced negotiations to sell copper from its $1.4-billion Santa Cruz project in Arizona as surging demand from artificial intelligence infrastructure and power grids intensifies competition for US supplies.
The company has attracted interest from traditional commodity traders and strategic partners seeking domestic copper supplies, CEO Taylor Melvin told Bloomberg News. He declined to identify the prospective buyers but said offtake agreements could include financing to help develop the mine.
“We need a lot more than Santa Cruz to fill that gap,” Melvin said, referring to the widening divide between US copper demand and domestic production.
The negotiations come as copper prices hover near record highs and major technology companies seek to secure supplies for data centres and electricity networks. Global demand growth is expected to outpace production, increasing pressure on the US to develop new mines and reduce its reliance on imported metal. mining.com/copper-hungry-us-…
