Looking forward to presenting (on Oct 15) at the 120 Seconds BrnoRegion Microscopy event (jic.cz/cz/120-seconds-meet-t…)🔬 and at the Inst. of Scientific Instruments in Brno! Come see some cool images (and maybe even two Josef Lazars together!🤔😇) and talk to me aftewards!🍷🍻
A beautiful tribute to Pavel Jungwirth, by some of those who knew him the best as a scientist:

We are collaborating with Innovative Bioimaging (@InnovativeBioi1) on development of an ultrafast confocal microscope for linear dichroism (LD) imaging... It seems to be coming together!😎

In Pavel's honor, please consider contributing to one of the organizations chosen by his family:

As has now been publicly announced, Pavel Jungwirth, a star Czech physical chemist and an overall excellent person has passed away...🖤 He will be very much missed by the scientific community, his many friends, but above all, his family. What a sad day...🥹
We have now been granted a US patent on our FLIP biosensors, co-developed and commercialized by Innovative Bioimaging (@InnovativeBioi1)🤩
I had the honor to present a talk (in the big room!🤩😱) about our FLIP biosensors and an ultrafast confocal microscope (@InnovativeBioi1)!
Just got back from #ELMI2026 in Coimbra, Portugal - an excellent meeting for optical microscopists! Coimbra is a beautiful place🏰with small beers 🍻🙂. A Czech trace: one of the local brews is named Jan Kubiš!🍺🇨🇿
I took my hand (specifically, my hurting middle finger) to the doctor today... Here is the result😇. They made me do it😂. Less fun: if you look closely, you will see that the end of the bone is crushed🙄
Unrelated: last week I gave a seminar for the students of the Science program of Charles University (natur.cuni.cz/uchazeci/studi…). Seems like an excellent program and a lovely group of students!👍😍 I hope they enjoyed it as much as I did!
Got my hand pinched by a door a week ago... Ouch! 😰 One of my fingers still hurts, but Petro has now at least made it look better... At least in Photoshop🙂
The actual video can be watched here... We are on at time 6:29

Check out how this translocation-based biosensor develops linear dichroism (when the orientational freedom of the fluorescent protein becomes restricted)! 😎 Imaged with our new, super-fast confocal LD microscope🔬⚡️, now available from innovativebioimaging.com
We used a super-fast linear dichroism confocal microscope based developed in collaboration with our friends at KU Leuven:
The TriScan: fast and sensitive 3D confocal fluorescence imaging using a simple optical design biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
Microscopy imaging of activation of the b2-adrenergic receptor by using a FLIP biosensor - resting state (on the left) and after b2AR activation (on the right). Can you spot the difference?🤔 Pretty cool, huh? 😎🙂
FLIPs are new, super-simple molecular biosensors that convert molecular events into changes in orientation of a fluorescent protein. This change is then observable by linear dichroism (LD) microscopy. Isn't this simple?
And this is the paper we were celebrating!🥂:
