GOLDMAN SAYS AI COULD DISPLACE 9% OF AMERICAN WORKERS
That is about 15 million people.
But India reports 7% growth on the same day. We hear of a new company doing layoffs while building out a GCC each week.
So ask yourself - is it really AI displacing American workers?
TEXAS TOPPED CALIFORNIA IN GREEN CARD WORKER APPROVALS LAST QUARTER

Nationwide, petitions waiting for a decision rose to 203,204. USCIS has received 173,446 since October.

INFOSYS LISTED THE LEGAL MINIMUM WAGE ON 99.5% OF ITS H-1B FILINGS
Luckey said what most tech executives won't.
In FY2026, Infosys got 4,595 certified H-1B filings. On 4,572 of them, the listed wage matched the lowest pay the law allows for the job.

Immigration policy must be driven by the present, not the past, and business leaders are too terrified of the left AND the right to acknowledge this.
Recent H1B discourse revolves around a longstanding immigration sleight-of-hand. H1B proponents point to exceptional people who came here decades ago as if they represent the current state of the program in the same way that advocates for low-skill/illegal immigration point to very favorable immigrant crime/welfare/education/etc statistics that do, in truth, have them beating native-born Americans on many fronts.
It is all a sham. The world that created those statistics, people, and businesses no longer exists. Brilliant but desperate Vietnamese fathers who fled communism have nothing in common with young men from Honduras, and the crime rates/economic acccomplishments/integration of the former should not be used to justify mass migration of the latter.
Nor should the accomplishments of people who managed to get an H1B visa in the 90s (when the program was capped to just 65,000 visas) be used to justify staffing agencies and tech companies using the program to replace American jobs for less money. The obvious abuse going on is politically suicidal and something that even the most ardent supporters of the visa should want to crack down on, no immigration program can possibly survive the obvious and widely known reality of what is going on. I am a longtime outspoken advocate for stealing the best people from other countries to make our own better, runaway abuse of existing programs robs the government of the worker trust required to do so.
Lots of people in the tech space know this. Even the dumb people are smart enough to see it. Nobody actually believes these are all incredible people with unique talents performing jobs no American can. Everyone knows the guy in Cubicle Bay 7 doing mediocre but functional web design for half the salary of his American peers is no savant and doesn't meet the statutory requirements for his H-1B visa.
Unfortunately, most people with power or profile are terrified that any public statement or acknowledgement will get them attacked by the right (You guys have been screwing over American workers for years with visa abuse, you damn hypocrite!) or the left (You are racist, sexist, misogynist, and sucking up to this fascist administration!). Or, more likely, both. I know too many tech execs in particular who feel trapped, like the only winning move is to stay silent.
JD is blowing the whole thing wide open by putting facts and stats front and center that nobody wants to engage with. Critics will talk about anything and everything else but these damning facts and this obvious truth, that H1B visas serve neither their original purpose, legal purpose, invented purpose, or the American people.

COMCAST LAYOFFS
Comcast Cable Communications got 331 certified H-1B filings from October 2025 to June 2026, per Labor Department data. Software developers were the biggest group at 192.
If these cuts land in engineering, those filings deserve a hard look.
Comcast is planning a significant number of job cuts as part of an overall restructuring of its cable-TV, broadband and wireless businesses, according to people familiar with the company’s thinking bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
BARCLAYS SAYS AI MEANS IT NEEDS FEWER DEVELOPERS - CUTS 5,000 JOBS
The bank plans to cut about 5,000 jobs, roughly 5% of its 93,000 staff. Its CFO said about 60% of the cuts fall on support functions, "including fewer developers as AI makes our people more productive."
Pre-tax profit rose 12% last quarter to £2.3 billion. It also announced a £500 million buyback.
Its US units still got 640 H-1B filings from October 2025 to June 2026. Of those, 256 were for software developers.
A bank that needs fewer developers should explain why it still files for them.

EMPLOYERS FILED 77,010 CERTIFIED H-1B APPLICATIONS FOR CALIFORNIA IN NINE MONTHS
Here are the top 25 over the same period that California lost about 30,000 tech jobs. It now sits about 36,000 below pre-COVID.
In the same stretch, October 2025 to June 2026, employers got 77,010 H-1B labor applications certified for California worksites.
40,229 were computer jobs, and 34,061 were in Santa Clara County alone.
🚨 CALIFORNIA’S TECH INDUSTRY IS BLEEDING JOBS.
• 30,000 tech jobs lost in the past year.
• 36,000 fewer jobs than before COVID.
Meanwhile:
• Companies continue sponsoring H-1B workers.
• Tech jobs keep moving overseas.
• California is considering a 5% billionaire wealth tax that critics warn could drive more founders, investment and jobs out of state.
California was once the undisputed capital of American tech innovation.
Now we’re debating how to tax the people building companies while American tech workers struggle to find jobs.
Where is the talent shortage? And what exactly is California doing to keep these jobs?
TEXAS IS FINALLY COUNTING H-1B WORKERS IN ITS SCHOOLS
The comptroller's review of four districts will count employees and contractors on H-1B visas, according to internal records seen by the Dallas Morning News.
Austin ISD is one of them. It had 8 certified H-1B filings in DOL's latest disclosure file. All 8 were at Level I, the lowest wage level. Most were for bilingual teachers.
Dallas ISD is not in the review. They are actually the 160th highest filing “employer” of H-1B in the nation. A Texas school district!!
They employs more H-1B holders than any district or public university in the state.
