COMEX silver inventories continue to fall
Right now there are about 102 million ounces of silver that can actually be delivered against futures contracts. That is the registered silver. Against that sits roughly 366 million ounces of open interest in the March contract. If every holder demanded physical delivery, the gap would be 264 million ounces. That never happens in practice because positions are closed or rolled.
The March contract is fascinating to watch. Over the past 24 hours, open interest dropped by 2,943 contracts of 5,000 ounces each. That is 15 million ounces coming out of March. This happens when longs and shorts close or roll positions. The roll was clearly visible, because 3,589 new contracts were opened in May. That equals about 18 million ounces shifting into the May contract.
At a pace of roughly 15 million ounces per day coming off the March contract, it would take about 18 trading days for open interest to fall to a level that could be covered by the current registered inventory. Eighteen trading days from today takes us to March 6.
First Notice Day for the March contract is February 27 and last trading day is March 27. Shorts decide when to issue a delivery notice. The CME clearinghouse then assigns that delivery to clearing members with long positions. Within those brokers, delivery is allocated to clients holding longs.
This is not the whole story. Silver can still move into COMEX vaults or be reclassified from eligible to registered. But the trend in registered silver is down. Perhaps the strongest point of all: even after the silver crash more than a week ago, that downward trend did not stop.
That tells you everything.

Any institution with reasonable thinking would buy COMEX and sell SHFE to lock in this massive spread.
The fact that this arbitrage is still wide open tells you everything.
It’s not a pricing problem.
It’s a delivery problem.
China doesn’t accept paper or IOUs they want physical metal.
If #silver were available for immediate shipment, this gap would already be closed.
Now add this:
Any miner thinking rationally will sell to China, not COMEX or LBMA.
Why accept paper pricing when SHFE is paying real money for real metal?
If this continues, supply bypasses paper markets.
And once metal stops flowing into COMEX/LBMA, the paper game is cooked.
Why this arbitrage can’t be closed quickly ,I’ll explain in detail in the coming article.

🇩🇪🇪🇺 GERMANY’S OFFSHORE WIND POWER DREAM JUST HIT THE WALL - AND NO ONE WANTS TO SAY WHY
Germany just suffered the kind of humiliation that would have been unthinkable a decade ago:
A 10-gigawatt offshore wind auction - the biggest in Europe - and not a single company showed up.
Zero bids. Zero interest. Zero illusion left about Berlin’s green-industrial grand plan.
The Bundestag’s response? Not to fix the system - but to shrink it.
Germany has now slashed its 2026 offshore wind auction from 6 GW down to a measly 2.5–5 GW.
Far from a “strategic adjustment,” thi is an admission of failure.
The offshore wind industry did the math that Berlin refused to do.
Developers took one look at the deal and realized:
- Zero-subsidy projects no longer work in a world of skyrocketing steel prices
- Supply chains are a mess
- Turbines have doubled in cost
- Interest rates make capital-intensive megaprojects impossible
And Germany still thinks companies will magically absorb all risk while politicians take all the moral credit
Offshore wind companies are businesses, not activists.
And right now, offshore wind is a bad business in Germany.
The truth behind the flop:
Germany wants 70 GW of offshore wind by 2045.
Reality check: Current additions are nowhere near that trajectory - and they’re slowing.
Industry groups warned Berlin months before the failed auction that the system was collapsing.
Permitting is too slow, tenders are structurally unprofitable, revenue certainty doesn’t exist, supply chains can’t keep up, and costs have exploded across the board.
Berlin ignored them.
And now Germany is shocked - shocked! - that no one wants to lose billions on their utopian timeline.
Germany was supposed to be the green engine of Europe.
Instead, it has become the case study in what happens when ideology outruns physics, economics, and industrial capacity.
Shutting off cheap Russian gas created an energy cost explosion.
Nuclear was retired early. Coal briefly returned. Industry left.
And now even wind - the supposed savior - is buckling.
At some point, you run out of slogans and start running into reality.
The green future isn’t canceled... but Germany just learned (hopefully) it won’t arrive on political virtue alone.
