When I first "woke up" 15 years ago, I realised that the monetary system was completely fake.
In fact, it was coming to understand the difference between currency and money that propelled my thinking in to becoming much more self sufficient (as much as possible) in things like food, electricity etc
I very quickly realised that currency was a medium of exchange, and money was a store of wealth/value. So I started to exchange currency for money, and began to buy silver coins. This was about ten/fifteen years ago when silver was about £11 - £15 per ounce
Gold and silver's PRICE may change, but its VALUE is timeless, and anchored. Money is an anchor for value, which is why the central banks keep it - it is the only thing that is real in their banking game.
Price changes, but value does not. In Roman times an ounce of gold would get you kitted out in a full toga and sandals. Today an ounce of gold will still buy you a fitted suit, and shoes on Saville Row. It's value has not changed - but the price of it has
The Value of a Silver Denarius
In the parable of the labourers in the vineyard (Matthew 20:1-16) the labourers get paid for a days work with a single silver Roman Denarius.
A working day then (as is the case now for some) would've been from dawn til dusk, twelve hours. So one silver denarius, was the reward for working twelve hours per day
There are six Roman denarius to one ounce of silver. So, six twelve hour days would earn you one ounce of silver.
The price of Silver Today and it's Value to You
In the UK the minimum wage is reportedly £12:21 per hour. A twelve hour day, will earn you £146:52
At todays prices, those working in the vineyard in the parable at Matthew, would earn £146:52 per day. The value of a sixth of an ounce of silver is worth the price: £146:52
Therefore the price for an ounce of silver can be calculated at £146:52 x 6 = £879:12 (and many experts in this field agree that the price of an ounce is in the many hundreds) "price" is not an exact science.
I would suggest that using this historical perspective can give us an idea of the true value, and price of a silver ounce, and although silver has made many gains over 15 years, it still has much ground to make up; and I absolutely expect that it will
One way that you could look at this equation (it is the way that I like to look upon it), is that for every ounce of silver that you have in your possession, it could save/buy you six, twelve hour days of hard graft
The silver price today is £70 per ounce. Although it has made serious ground recently (and there will be many downward spirals in the market place) I strongly feel that placing spare currency (which is designed to lose value daily), in to a real asset such as money (gold or silver) will serve you well
There is another simple mathematical equation which will give similar stunning answers, and that is when you divide the M1 [money] currency supply, by the above ground ounces of silver.
In other words, the more currency that is printed by the central banks, the higher the price of precious metals will reach to balance the equation.
Money holds wealth and is useable all over the "world". However you can no longer use Spanish peseta's or the German Deutsche Mark currencies, because they no longer exist. Currency is temporary
Those that are "awake" to the system will be investing in silver and gold as a means to survive the turbulent times that we know are ahead. You will always be able to buy food, goods and services no matter the crisis if you have gold or silver, yet we don't know how much longer the British Pound will be in existence.
