📚The last day of #BeEx2024 has pleased with a launch of a book “Insidious Capital”, which explores “value and #values” in what may well be the last phase of #capitalist #globalization.
🌍The second panel – “Contestations over land in plural legal regimes”. The #PluriLand project investigates rising land #conflicts impacting vulnerable communities globally, despite #legal protections.

Day 4 of #BeEx2024 has started🎉
📚 It started with a roundtable “#Humanitarian politics:
between #state and #corporate interests, #technology and #law” which served as a launch of Kristin Bergtora Sandvik’s book “Humanitarian Extractivism - The Digital Transformation of #Aid”
🎬The next panel – “Film as politics”.
This roundtable explored how films, whether overtly #political or not, can shift mindsets and expand #rights (or reinforce #stigma)
Håkon Tveit (BIFF and UiB), Helena Alviar (Sciences Po, Paris), and Victoria Schmidt (University of Graz).
#ResearchAgenda for the next decade should focus on the issue of #inequality and the role of #law in both driving and addressing #marginalization. This session, in collaboration with @GRIPInequality, set the stage for the next decade of transformative research on inequality.

How should people concerned about attacks on democracy consider the importance of supporting institutions that uphold democracy, beyond just focusing on individual rights?
@LawTransform #BeEx2024 Annual Lecture by @KimLaneLaw on “Restoring #Democracy through Transnational Law.”
What a start to day 3! Beautiful opera and piano tunes from Dorothee Alberts and Andrea Martini this morning in the wonderful University Aula. They performed Ombra Mai Fu by Georg Friedrich Händel.
We are pleased to welcome @KimLaneLaw with her Annual Lecture on “Restoring democracy through transnational law”. She elaborated on how #transnational law can transform #humanrights into constitutional structures that can sustain democratic order.
We are having the final #roundtable of the day following @KimLaneLaw’s lecture with Oumar Ba (Cornell University), Eirik Holmøyvik (UiB),
Gökhan Sen (University of Oslo), and Alida Steigler (University of Oslo) with Danielle Rached (University of Sao Paulo) as a moderator.
