THIS IS INSANE: A bombshell Wall Street Journal investigation just revealed how Donald Trump Jr.'s former fiancée, now the U.S. ambassador to Greece, has been quietly steering billions in energy deals toward a company tied to a mystery lobbyist who never disclosed his conflict of interest. Kimberly Guilfoyle has been crisscrossing the Balkans pushing European allies to buy American natural gas, and repeatedly steering them toward one specific company: Aktor Group, a Greek construction firm new to the energy business. The problem is who's been at her side the entire time. Christos Marafatsos has attended so many of Guilfoyle's official meetings that foreign officials mistook him for her chief of staff. He's actually a paid lobbyist for Aktor, whose CEO flew Guilfoyle to Bulgaria on a private jet. People who met with him, including government officials, say he never once mentioned his ties to the company. Read that again. A registered foreign lobbyist, quietly embedded in official U.S. diplomatic meetings, steering government business toward his own paying client. Aktor has paid Marafatsos $160,000 to build connections with the White House, State Department, and Energy Department. Within weeks of hiring him, Aktor's access to the Trump administration exploded, landing a 20-year LNG supply deal and a $6 billion agreement with Albania. Meanwhile, competing American gas companies say they've been completely frozen out. The CEO of one competitor, Argent LNG, put it bluntly: "She has her favorites." A former National Security Council director for the region called it exactly what it looks like. "Absolutely problematic," Robin Brooks said, adding that bringing a lobbyist into meetings with foreign officials "calls into question whether the meeting is advancing American interests or advancing some sort of private interest." Guilfoyle's lawyer denies any wrongdoing, and Aktor's lawyers say the company's involvement predates any contact with the ambassador. But the pattern documented by the Journal, private jets, undisclosed lobbying ties, billions in deals flowing to one company, tells its own story.
