It's a beautiful day for a tour !

At Laura, we are committed to supporting local artists and artisans like Ricardo "Ricky" Schexnayder who produced these amazing paintings to represent the diversity of Louisiana women for #WomensHistoryMonth. Check them out in the Laura Plantation Museum exhibit!

German colonists brought the bonfires to Creole Louisiana in 1721, long before the arrival of the first Acadians to the area in 1764. Like many things, the bonfires have been rebranded as a "Cajun" holiday event, even though they have been part of LA Creole culture for 300 years.
Even on cloudy days, the textures and colours at Laura remind us that #Creole Louisiana is a world apart !

We were truly saddened to learn that community elder Mr. Gufielle Keller passed away this past Tuesday, Nov 20th. In 2019, we had the privilege to record a couple of his childhood stories in French and Creole.
