“Providers” today have the top 5 diagnoses in their office, along with the top 5 pharmacology e-scripts. If you question the system, or dare use research their arrogancy laughs you out of the office.

It’s been an age, but here’s a little #FridayTreat from the #OliverSacks #Archive. How exciting to open a folder & find this sitting right on top! As context, Sacks DID have a tendency to lose/burn/rip up completed works. We are all fortunate that was not the fate of #Awakenings.

On this day in 2015 we lost Dr. Oliver Sacks. This clip from an old doc on Awakenings shows how fascinated he was by the human condition, and how much he advocated for the treatment of each patient as an individual person rather than a pathology.

I review two biographies each week for the New York Sun. Why is it that most book publicists don’t know that?

Remembering the great Robin Williams who passed away 10 years ago. Sacks described their conversations as a deep exploration of human behavior. Williams, in turn, credited his role in Awakenings as a gift, allowing him to meet Sacks and delve into the workings of the human brain.

@TheAmScho: On 12/12 a microscope made by Antoni van Leeuwenhoek—only the 13th ever found—fetched six figures @ChristiesInc. That makes it the perfect time to revisit @LauraJSnyder's profile of the 17th-century father of microbiology in our Summer issue. rb.gy/n5xogi

When students finally received a message after nearly a month of 8 hours a day pro-Hamas “protesters” drowning out opposing views (&disrupting classes) w/megaphones, telling anyone who looked Jewish that “your lot should be burned,” it was very clear:

I love how most don’t realize how ableist they are. In the beginning, most tried so hard to make things inclusive like online school, streaming concerts. Once you heard you didn’t need to continue, you dropped everything in a second. You left us behind without a thought.

#OTD in 2015 #OliverSacks died. He claimed that “Over a lifetime I have written a million words a year since my teenage days, but the act of writing seems as fresh & as much fun as when I started it.” His final days were spent doing what he loved best: writing.
