At full maturity under the Musk Case Study assumptions, aggregate AI-related energy demand could reach approximately 14.4 terawatts globally, roughly 50 percent more than current total world electricity production. For the United States, as a leading AI adopter, this scenario would require roughly a tripling of domestic power generation capacity.

The evolution of AI represents an expansion of human perceptual and analytical capacity rather than a displacement of the human mind. Just as a more powerful lamp does not dictate the contents of a room but merely exposes them with greater clarity, advanced neural networks do not "desire" to solve specific problems; they are mechanically oriented toward targets defined by human ambition. This maintains a hierarchical relationship where the human provides the directional "why," while the AI provides the operational "how." The future, therefore, is not characterized by the autonomy of the tool, but by a state of augmented intentionality, where the bottleneck of progress transitions from raw information processing to the clarity and rigor of the human vision being illuminated.

The Velocity of Silicon vs. The Inertia of Steel Through the Hierarchy, we see that the current AI transition is not a single event, but multiple overlapping technological waves compressed into a tight window. While we have lived through the peak growth of the first wave and are currently navigating the second, the coming third wave, Agentic Digital and Physical Autonomy, will be the most transformative. Yet, as we look toward Level 4, it becomes clear that this isn't just a single-decade event. We are entering a multi-decade technological super-cycle. The Hierarchy reveals a critical paradox: we are overestimating the speed of software integration while drastically underestimating the physical energy infrastructure required for maturity. The software may iterate in weeks, but the build-out of gigawatt-scale power and the replacement of global industrial hardware follows the inertia of the physical world. xitter.cf/LatticeJournal/status/…

In biology, Gain-of-Function (GoF) research involves genetically altering pathogens to enhance their biological functions making them more transmissible or virulent to stay ahead of evolution. AI development follows a parallel trajectory. Each step toward higher capability represents a Digital Gain-of-Functionfor silicon. By using this lens, we can move from "philosophical fear" to "technical oversight". xitter.cf/LatticeJournal/status/…

The AI transition is not a single event, but a series of successive technological waves hitting society every few years. We have moved through the first wave and are navigating the second. The third wave, Agentic Digital and Physical Autonomy, will be the most transformative and larger than the first two. Today, @LatticeJournal launches with our first Working Paper: "Frontier AI Hierarchy." We’ve replaced vague labels like "AGI" with a first-principles taxonomy to map the successive, compounding waves of the coming industrial super-cycle. The velocity of silicon is meeting the inertia of steel. We must understand the timing, or risk catastrophic errors in investments, fiscal policy and regulation. xitter.cf/LatticeJournal/status/…

ServiceNow's @BillRMcDermott and @NVIDIA's Jensen Huang joined @CNBC live from #Know26 to talk about the next iteration of our seven-year partnership—Project Arc—the future of agentic AI, and why businesses need an action layer for the agentic era. Watch the full conversation. ⬇️

Jobs in the Future AI Economy: The Five-Pillar Framework We explore the fundamental shift in the social contract as AI decouples human survival from traditional labor. We argue that rather than destroying dignity, Universal Basic Income (UBI) provides the "economic floor" necessary for a transition from a profit-driven Market Economy to a mission-driven Purpose Economy. The traditional corporate structure is a trade-off where individuals surrender their time and purpose for existential security, as execution is automated, the human role shifts from "doing" to providing the "Why" behind actions. Humans serve as pilots directing AI toward societal "North Stars" of flourishing. When survival is guaranteed, the power dynamic between the "boss" and the "worker" is leveled. Accountability becomes social and reputational rather than existential. If you fail to contribute, you aren't "fired" into poverty; you are simply removed from the mission. This creates a high-trust, high-accountability ecosystem where people stay because they believe in the work, not because they fear the alternative.
