Just dropped a deep-dive Q&A with my longtime friend and partner Jeff Cahill on the Glock Gen 6. We tore into the real changes, what actually matters for shooters who run these hard, and where Glock got it right (and where they still have room to improve). No hype, no fluff — just the straight facts from two guys who’ve been inside these pistols for decades. If you carry a Gen 6, train with one, or just want the unfiltered take before the internet turns it into a circus… this one’s worth your time. Read the full review here: firearmsfriday.com/firearm-n… Let me know what you think in the comments. Always interested in hearing from the guys who actually run the gun. #Glock #Gen6 #VickersTactical #TangoDown @firearmsfriday

Dispite what some may tell you the custom 1911 world is still thriving. The big name shops like Wilson Combat and Nighthawk Custom have long lines to get a gun. The same is true about one man shops. These are the guys who run the mill, checker the frame and sweep the floor themselves. At one time I was one of those guys - in my off time during my military service I would build custom 1911's for customers, friends and myself. Like all these guys every gun I built had a piece of my soul in it when it was handed off to someone to be its caretaker. I definitely enjoyed it and look back at that era of my life with fondness. There are several outstanding one man 1911 smiths in the world today but when I'm asked who I consider to be the best it comes down to one name; Jason Burton. I've known Jason for nearly 20 years now and consider him a very close friend. Over the years I've had the pleasure of owning more than one Burton gun. Not only are his guns featured prominently in the Vickersguide 1911 books he has been a contributing editor as well. His knowledge on the subject of the history of custom 1911's is very impressive and I have more than once picked his brain on custom makers of the past. Jason is also a very solid shooter and shoots 'God's gun in God's caliber ' (government model 1911 in .45 ACP in case you needed it spelled out !) as his regular blaster. The one and only Clint Smith, who needs no introduction, is a user of Burton 1911's in addition to being a shooter who prefers .45 ACP in his Burton guns as well. Like most all one man shops his guns have a 'signature' look and once you know what to look for you can spot a Burton gun easily. His work is immaculate and I marvel at his phenomenal attention to detail. And the next line cannot be said of all customs 1911's by any maker - his guns truly shoot as good as they look. His guns aren't cheap, anything at this quality leve! never is, and his wait time is significant, so my advice is if you want one either search the secondary market (they very rarely come up for sale) or put your name on the list and wait your turn. Remember to tell him I sent you and save your money for the best; a Burton gun

You guys want to see, in my opinion, the finest production handgun in the world in terms of overall quality of manufacture as well as fit and finish? The Alien pistols from Laugo Arms. Those that have followed me for awhile now know I am a longtime fan of the Alien and I filmed my first of three videos on my Youtube channel at the their booth at SHOT show 2020. If you have never checked one out I recommend it whenever you get the chance. They aren't cheap by any means but are quite frankly a bargain imo compared to some of the overpriced 2011 style pistols on the market that pale in comparison in terms of overall quality. I'm going to bring you guys up to speed on the Laugo Arms Alien Remus (shown here) over the next few weeks so stay tuned for more. Those who have tried any of the Alien pistols share your opinion please.

I generally don’t like to spread rumors but this one is too significant to not share; I heard last night from an industry friend that Ron Cohen is out as CEO of @sigsauerinc. Once again I only heard this from one source but I wanted to see if anyone else has heard this same thing. Let’s hear it gang - share what you know or what you think?

Most of the firearms media runs the same script on loop when it comes to precision rifles. Same handful of names. Same hype cycle. Meanwhile some of the most capable, purpose-built tools sitting in real special operations armories barely get a mention. That’s a shame. If you talk to the guys who actually use this stuff for a living, you hear about systems that do the job quietly, reliably, and without the marketing machine. I broke some of those down over @firearmsfriday — the HK G210, B&T APR modular bolt guns, DSR-1/DSR-50 bullpups, Haenel RS9, SIG SSG 3000, certain SCAR-H precision variants, and modern AI configs that don't get the ink they deserve. This isn't my usual deep dive but these exist because someone with a real requirement needed them so I wanted to highlight them. They're tools, not headlines. Many of you know I am a SIG P210 fan. In particular the Swiss made ones that have been out of production for quite awhile now. They are extremely well made - very possibly the finest military service pistol ever made- very accurate and have excellent triggers. This is a honey of a P210-6 I saw on Gunbroker. I've said it before and l'Il say it again if you want one get on it - the Swiss ones not only will never be made again they will only go one way in value- up. Who has one or wants one? Let's hear it!

25 years later, the events of 9/11 affected a lot of different people a lot of different ways. How did 9/11 change you?

Hey you guys seen the HK210 sniper rifle? I’ve totally slept on it - based on what I can find online it’s meant to replace the G28 in German Army use - big things I see are MLOK rail, .308 Magpul P-MAG compatible and most noteworthy the left side charging handle that replaces the T shaped charging handle which is standard on virtually all AR style weapons. I’m really interested to see if any of you have more information or have shot it - please let’s hear it as well as your thoughts of the rifle.

Not a 2011 guy? Still want a high-end double-stack 9mm that actually shoots like a custom 1911? @WilsonCombat’s eXperior Elite is purpose-built for a red dot, feeds 18 rounds from steel magazines that work, and has the trigger Wilson’s been the gold standard on for years. External extractor. Starburst grips. Commander-size package. MSRP $3,999 — and in a world where high-end 2011s are well north of four grand, that number starts to look pretty honest. Checkout my writeup here firearmsfriday.com/firearm-n… on @firearmsfriday Read the full piece and let me know if you think it's worth it.

One of the most desirable SR 25’s are the ones that can be traced back the world’s most elite special operations unit - Delta Force. Back in the day, and I assume it’s still the case, KAC would trade/swap out SR 25’s in Unit service for upgraded new ones built to current standards. Those rifles were then offered for purchase by the Delta operators that were issued them in the Unit. The price was very reasonable- after a period of time when the guns were not purchased KAC sold them at a premium price - understandably due to what they are. This one recently changed hands for $12,000 - which seems like a lot of money (it is) but given the pedigree I think it’s an appropriate price. It is an ‘A grade’ Unit gun which means it was issued but lightly used. These things pop up for sale occasionally but you have to be ‘in the loop’ to know what it is and what to look for. So what do you guys think - too much money or a reasonable amount?

A very cool set of pics sent by a friend of an early Pachmayr Combat Special. My friend got Paul Liebenberg to do a letter highlighting the various features of this early custom government model. I hope you guys like the pics and as always share your thoughts!

*** Special Pre-Order LAUNCH SALE through August 28. Grab it now! *** Hey gang, you can now pre-order From Hartford to Vietnam. Authored by long-time Colt collector and historian Alex Young, From Hartford to Vietnam relies in large part on curated photographs that have been sourced by the author from a number of private collections, including from the estate of Rob Roy, a central figure in this story as a high-level employee at Colt during the development of the AR-15 throughout the Vietnam War period. This book is an Illustrated History of How Colt Brought the AR-15 Rifle to War is a journey through the development and production of the AR-15 by Colt’s Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Company (later Colt Industries) and its ultimate fielding just in time for the growing Vietnam War. Though the AR-15 was the brainchild of Eugene Stoner and his team at the relatively small machine shop known as Armalite in Hollywood, California, it was American firearms icon Colt that purchased the rights to the rifle in 1959. From the small number of prototypes originally manufactured by Armalite (fewer than 30), Colt was faced with the seemingly impossible task of selling this new rifle concept to the US military and beyond. Throwback Thursday; I’ve always had fond memories of wearing a @Casio_USA G Shock watch while in Delta back in the day. It never let me down ( except when the band broke and I got a new one issued to me ) and I never had to change a battery even once. Of course it was rugged and withstood the elements with ease. The one complaint I had was it was not easy to see in low light and the light feature was less than ideal. That being said I have told people if I had to choose one watch to do everything for the rest of my life it would be a G Shock. I love a Rolex Submariner but I’d still choose a G Shock over it for a life or death situation. Who has them or have used one and what are your thoughts?
