There is no record of Flaubert saying "Bovary c'est moi." In all likelihood he never did. In a letter he wrote (translated): “Madame Bovary contains nothing true. It is a completely invented story. I put none of my feelings or my life into it.”

I am for data centers and for AI. The opposition to data centers is driven by ignorance. It will be seen in the future as a big mistake.

Zverev shouldn’t be allowed to bounce the ball 200 times before serving. He does it to throw off his opponent’s timing. It makes the match boring for fans too.

The data center backlash is driven by ignorance. Craven, spineless politicians are jumping on the bandwagon because they have no principles and would do anything to get elected.

Scientists used AI to create new viruses for the first time - NYT. What rough beast slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

I hate “downstream of” and look forward to the demise of that awful, faddish neologism.

China and Russia hardly offer attractive alternatives to the West — few want to immigrate there — but they try to exploit divisions in the West to make their systems seem less bad. The latest effort focuses on AI data centers. trib.al/XQ1Vpen

Some news about the Hanford cleanup. Still decades and $ billions to go.
"The 222-S Laboratory at the Hanford nuclear site is turning 75, but it continues to play as vital a role at Hanford as it did when it opened during the early years of the Cold War." Read the @TriCityHerald article: tri-cityherald.com/news/loca…

This morning I was struck from behind by an illegal motorbike while running on the pedestrian path of the Williamsburg Bridge. The rider crashed into me, looked right at me, got back on, and fled. I'll recover. The next person might not. I looked for police for 30 minutes, then called 911 at 8:34am. NYPD arrived 76 minutes later and said they couldn't file a report because the bridge "wasn't their precinct." Then they left. Two weeks ago, two people were killed almost exactly this way on the Queensboro Bridge - an illegal high-speed scooter on a path never built for motor vehicles. Every rush hour, thousands of us walk and run these bridges assuming we're safe from motorbikes. We're not, and no one will own the problem. It's fixable: regular bridge enforcement, dedicated patrols, and automated camera enforcement. @ZohranKMamdani @NYC_DOT @NYPDnews - will your administration act before someone doesn't get to walk away? @StreetsblogNYC @TransAlt @Gothamist

Fran Lebowitz on the billionaires: “Every time someone suggests [a wealth tax] they say I’m moving. Go! They add nothing to New York. In the 19th century, those robber barons, they employed people. All this money magic employs no one. Goodbye, go. We don’t need you”

The plutocrats, none of whom live in Manhattan, spending millions to defeat @AlexBores are unaware that their transparent tactics could backfire. If those trying to shove AI down our throats are so afraid of Bores, he’s probably worth supporting.
