The world is broken from a monetary policy standpoint. What the textbooks missed is that pulling forward demand is not increasing demand. Giving people more money by printing it would be a collosal failure of gov't. There is a natural rate of growth amp.ft.com/content/1d1610bc-…

$PWRD is the ETF that @MerellaCTV and I were asked about yesterday on @BNNBloomberg #BermansCall It's a good way to play the stocks best positioned to power the AI trend.

Been a while since I posted for many reasons; social media more toxic than not these days and really needed to step away for a bit. My 2 cents: The ceasefire will likely last as long as Trump needs it to. Markets can squeeze to test new highs. Beyond AI capex, economy is weak.

Any idea what to do with equities at ATH and $NVDA growth momentum slowing? It's not #BTFD! I have a few ideas, if you are in #Toronto on Sept 12th I'll be doing an opening keynote at the @MoneyShow

A viewer asked about a growth ETF for a TFSA. No best way to play it. An equal weight exposure due to the overvalued mag 7. $RTY is an equal weight large cap tech exposure. Evolve ETFs in Canada had a $QQQT that is only the technology part of $QQQ with a currency hedge.

This is a must read too. Will try to unpack this on @BNNBloomberg #BermansCall
Pipe Dream 101 - Mar A Lago Accord version The Xverse is awash with nonsense regarding a grand bargain called the Mar A Lago Accord. While I accept that anything is possible with the right set of sticks and carrots I cannot imagine such a deal occuring. Nonetheless I will

Great thread. Trump 2.0 really trying to fix major issues. Still don't like his style, but radical change is needed.
1/16 A thread on The Mar-A-Lago Accord (MALA). tl:dr Take it seriously, not literally The status quo cannot last. If we do nothing, it ends badly. What is the alternative? Most of it has either already happened, or is underway. We weren't aware of the name.

A reversion to the 5 year mean is another 320 s&p 500 points. In a recession we should trade at a discount.
The forward 12-month P/E ratio for $SPX of 20.7 is above the 5-year average (19.3) and above the 10-year average (17.9). #earnings, #earningsinsight, bit.ly/4ds1dJt

No @BNNBloomberg #BermansCall today. I'm attending a long standing charity golf event. Markets need to make new highs in the next 3 weeks of earnings. If not, 10% lower to cool the trend back to more sustainable valuations. youtu.be/4bJXOyC2guc?si=I7zc…

Must read of the day
The benefits to S&P500 companies from rising AI-related spending and increased economy-wide productivity are modest even in an extremely optimistic case. Thread.

The last time the OEX was down like this and the SML was up like this was.....about never. Today has to be a major inflection point for markets. I've been buying beaten up stocks in the higher for longer market. Today they performed very very well. Value beats growth for a while.

If I were a Dem strategist, I tell Joe to make Kamala the president now. He will likely be unable to serve well before the next 4 years. As someone who assesses risk for a living, odds he wins is very low. Not much better for Kamala. OMG Trump 2.0 will be a mess for markets...
BREAKING: An alternative view from a CEO who knows @JoeBiden well and says "NO FUCKING WAY he's dropping out." Here's his take: "Joe Biden couldnt care less what the elite in his party thinks, what the elite fundraisers think or anyone else. He really hates them; he'll take their money but he knows they look down on him as some rube. Plus he thinks he earned the presidency after trying so many times and there's no way he's giving it up to go down in history as a loser who dropped out because he isnt tough enough. He only cares about his wife and family and he will tell everyone else to fuck off."

Worth a read. Carney could beat Poilievre in the next election, but short of that, Pierre will be the next PM. I'm still thinking I'd like to be finance minister one day. Who knows what the future holds. But OMG did Trudeau mess up the books and Canada's place in the world.
Why is Justin Trudeau pushing Chrystia Freeland off a political cliff? And why is Mark Carney's name in the story? 🧵 Canadians woke up to reports from top reporter Robert Fife that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was actively considering turfing his most loyal foot soldier, Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland, from her role and replacing him with carbon-tax proponent Mark Carney. There is much to unpack here, but starting with the following point is critical: this is a purposeful leak made by the PMO and is as close to a formal announcement as it gets.  Fife's article cites an anonymous source, but it was almost certainly someone highly placed in the Prime Minister's Office with a mandate to purposely leak this information. There is no possible, logical way that Mr. Trudeau's PMO - which functions in a constant state of media lockdown - would randomly and without purpose leak this type of damning information to Mr. Fife, Canada's most devastating and well-read investigative reporter. Nothing short of a full-throated, proactive declaration of support for Ms. Freeland from Mr. Trudeau himself will prove otherwise. So why did they do it? 1/

It's hard to fathom that these are the candidates. Neither is fit for office. The debate was light on substance. I truly hope that our American friends achieve Gridlock. A mandate for either would be bad for deficits. FWIW my current index is 4.0, but I'm more like a 5.5.
Highlight of the entire debate was by far the golf argument
