What are 3D printed bandages and how could they help people with #Diabetes?
@D_Lamprou's team have created personalised, skin-like 3D printed scaffolds which have the ability to release #Antibiotics in bulk and also over a longer sustained period.
This breakthrough will cut time for medical professionals and improve patient care, as the wound dressing can provide treatment and be monitored without the need to be taken on and off repeatedly for the medical professionals to check the healing process.
"Improved wound management will not only enhance patient quality of life but could reduce the need for traditional antibiotic therapy, a key aim in the fight against #AntimicrobialResistance development.” (Dr @MatthewPWylie, @pharmacyatQUB)
