We have already extracted more oil and gas than we can burn in our lifetimes and still have a habitable planet.
The Labour Government is lying to us about the climate disaster. And this same energy secretary admitted earlier in the year this will do nothing to lower our bills.
Energy Secretary @Miatsf says Zack Polanski's criticism about the govt giving the green light to Jackdaw is "complete nonsense".
The government claims they can still meet their climate objectives.

Burning new gas from Jackdaw after thousands died prematurely due to extreme heat just months ago is incomprehensible and, as the govt admits, won’t lower bills.

By the end of this Parliament, Labour will likely have approved:
1. Jackdaw
2. Rosebank
3. Third runway at Heathrow
These week cumulatively make it practically impossible for the UK to meet is Paris Agreement targets.
It will simultaneously likely have:
1. Cut the budget for national insulation/Warm Homes campaign to fund increased defence spending;
2. Slashed the UK's contribution to the UN's Green Climate Fund by 45%, reversing funding pledge made by Rishi Sunak (already happened).
We just had a summer of extreme heat and wildfires; next year is likely to be worse.
This is a war on the environment, waged because Labour simply refuses to tax and redistribute wealth, and is wedded to a totally broken and outdated concept of national rather than human security.
Madness.

The first 100 days of Lambeth's first-ever Green council have seen change: bringing empty council homes back into use, auditing council finances, standing with Buy Back Brixton and with trans and migrant residents. Local gov can do a lot! It could do more if it was funded enough.

Finally after 12 years of struggle and suffering, the recommendation from Lambeth council is to not proceed with demolition of Cressingham or Central Hill. We could have told them that 12 years ago....and we did! ✊🎉

Feeling proud to be part of the @Lambethgp administration at Lambeth today. Two estates saved from demolition, and an additonal 200 empty council homes to filled by Christmas.
A huge well done to the campaigners who fought for decades, and to my colleagues who made it happen.
Residents fought for years to save the Cressingham Gardens and Central Hill estates, and now, thanks to them, they're saved from demolition. Now, Lambeth Council can focus on bringing those homes back into use.
