"He sold the dip to keep his business liquid." Business owners: where does your cash come from in a down year? #NYAFP

"Sequence risk is quieter when only one person in the family can see it." Who in your family should hear this conversation? #NYAFP nyafinancialpodcast.com/epis…

Your bills don't take averages. "You live in sequence land." Which one would make you sell at the bottom? #NYAFP

"Same dollars in, same average returns, but a five point three million dollar gap." The only difference was order. Has anyone shown you yours? #NYAFP youtu.be/KjJWleWN430

50,000 simulations. Identical plan. Worst first decade: coin-toss failure. Best first decade: never failed and left millions. The only variable was the order. That is the hot dog. #NYAFP Still treating the average like a promise? youtu.be/KjJWleWN430

“Either yesterday or today.” The contract is the part they have grandfathered before. Request a Meeting at notyouraveragefinancialpodca…. What are you still renting?

The line from our company read of Atomic Habits keeps earning its keep. “Never interrupt compounding unnecessarily.” A car, a mortgage payoff, a first business — those are real uses of capital. They do not have to bench the growth. Borrow against the house and the house can fall. Borrow against the 401(k) and you are in someone else’s rulebook. A policy loan on a participating contract leaves the guarantee on the clock. Where have you been interrupting compounding because that was the only door you had? #NYAFP

The reframe is not “leave your bank.” It is “stop giving every dollar the same job.” “Don’t be the product. Don’t be the consumer. Think like the owner.” Convenience can stay at the institution that runs the debit card. Ownership — surplus, access, a contract that is not trying to impress Friday’s call — is a different seat. A universal life contract can leave you in a mutual company and still outside the ownership. Where would you move one pile if the seat had to change? #NYAFP

“Banks pulled back from doing home equity loans.” Credit unions mostly didn’t. Which way did you lose access — the quarterly report, or the fine print? nyafinancialpodcast.com/epis…

Homework: ask whoever manages your money, “What do you wish you could tell me?” “If they’re not willing to go there with you, you don’t have a relationship. You have a person who you’re paying.” Then watch what happens. Who are you asking first?

Telling someone the hard truth about their money is only half of kindness. The other half is what you do next. As I said this week, don’t just hand someone a shovel so they can measure how deep the hole is, “hand them a ladder and start working one rung at a time.” youtu.be/G06aKM13EZ4?si=dKP_…

“You can’t build plans on hopes and prayers.” Fifty percent returns forever, the market bailing you out, that inheritance you’re counting on. Hope is not a strategy. Reality is undefeated. So what’s your plan actually built on, math or vibes?

Amanda Neely made a point this week using Mary Poppins, of all people: “if she had just been nice, the Banks family would have never changed.” Mary Poppins told that family the hardest truths in the most loving way, and that’s exactly why they transformed. Real growth almost never comes from the people who only cheer. Who in your life has been kind enough to tell you the hard thing, and did it end up changing you for the better? #NYAFP youtu.be/G06aKM13EZ4?si=dKP_…

“So far so good is the most expensive phrase in financial planning.” 🦃🦃🦃 The Thanksgiving turkey feels great about life every single day, right up until the fourth Thursday of November. ☠️☠️☠️ Everything up and to the right? Cool. What happens on the day it isn’t? youtu.be/G06aKM13EZ4?si=dKP_…

The through-line of this week — and of the whole TGIF series — was empowering, not gloomy: “True leverage comes from structures where your capital can do two things at once, growing safely while remaining accessible.” That single idea is what lets you buy the stuff of life without stopping your compounding. If you’d like to sketch what a major purchase would look like financed this way versus the conventional route, our team is glad to run the numbers with you. What’s the next big expense you’d want to reclaim?

Plot twist: you’re the flea in the jar, still jumping low out of habit even though “the lid has been taken off. You can escape the jar and fly free.” We’ve been trained to believe the only ways to buy big things are drain-your-savings or beg-a-bank. That ceiling was removed a long time ago. So what’s actually keeping you down there — the lid, or the habit? #NYAFP youtu.be/DBfniZuko3g?si=nR1M…
