Serving Lafayette is at the heart of everything we do.
LUS’s mission isn’t just about delivering reliable, high-quality services – it’s about powering the community we call home. That’s why a group of LUS employees joined over 400 volunteers this past Saturday for Parish Proud Day to help revamp Northside High School’s campus.
Thank you to all of the volunteers who showed up to make a lasting difference for our students and community!
LUS has decommissioned and replaced one of the system’s oldest lift stations at Beaver Park and upgraded another lift station at Thomas Park. These improvements will increase the reliability of the wastewater system in these service areas to and help ensure dependable service for years to come.
Strategic investments in core infrastructure ensure safe, dependable utility services for homes, businesses, and public spaces throughout Lafayette.
At the North Water Treatment Plant, LUS is rehabilitating treatment equipment that has served our community for over 40 years. By restoring worn steel structures, repairing concrete leaks and spalling, and applying fresh protective coatings, this project doubles the expected lifespan of these assets.
Performing these vital, timely repairs allows us to deliver dependable water service while maximizing every local dollar.
As part of LUS's ongoing commitment to system hardening and reliability, a portion of the aging wooden transmission infrastructure was recently replaced with high-durability steel poles across our service territory. These modern steel poles offer maximum protection against high winds and severe weather, lowering the risk of storm-related outages, and strengthening grid resiliency for all LUS customers.
By investing in these upgrades, LUS is reducing maintenance requirements, improving system reliability, and ensuring our community stays powered through every season.
Ready to sweep some savings into your water bill? When it’s time to clean off your patio or driveway, grab a broom instead of the hose and save water in the process. For more tips, go to lus.org/conservation #LUS #WaterConservation
Infrastructure you can rely on, no matter the weather.
LUS is upgrading the Acacia Sewer Lift Station with a dedicated backup generator. In the event of an extended power outage, this generator kicks in automatically to maintain continuous wastewater flow. Most importantly, this project safeguards surrounding homes and businesses by preventing costly and hazardous sewer backups during weather-related power disruptions.
Save water one small change at a time. Making a few simple adjustments around the house can help conserve water and keep those savings flowing. For more tips, go to lus.org/conservation #LUS #WaterConservation
To better serve the Lafayette community, LUS is preparing to replace aging, end-of-life galvanized water lines with modern infrastructure designed for long-term reliability. To get this critical upgrade flowing, LUS is anticipating receiving $6 million in EPA Grant Funds.
Beyond repairing brittle lines and preventing leaks, this project directly benefits the community by improving fire protection, allowing opportunities for expansion, and reducing long-term maintenance costs. Strategic infrastructure planning ensures high-quality water and reliable pressure whenever customers turn on the tap.
