Update: My husband has been in the hospital for the entire month of October. It has been a long journey, but he is doing incredibly well. In the beginning of September I forced him to go to the ER after I noticed one of his legs was really swollen. They did an ultrasound and found no blood clots so his doctor ordered tests to try to figure out what was causing the swelling. It ended up being heart failure. On September 30th he had a heart cath scheduled to try to see what was causing the heart failure. He’s not a smoker, he has no family history of heart failure or heart disease, the men in his family live into their 90s. During the heart cath they found blockage in all of his main arteries. One was 100% blocked, widow maker 80%+ blocked, it was bad. They admitted him to the hospital to run more tests to make sure his heart was healthy enough for open heart bypass surgery (CAVG). Thank God he was a candidate and he ended up with a quadruple bypass surgery on the 6th. Recovery is going amazing. They gave him an Impella 5.5 during the surgery to give his heart a chance to recover, but that has made his hospital stay even longer. I am so grateful for all of the prayers and messages of support. I love all of you and I can’t wait to get back to researching, posting and doing the @PSPod25 podcast. I miss you all so much, but my husband is my best friend and my whole world and he needs me right now. Don’t give up on me. I will be back as soon as I possibly can. Right now I am just focused on him getting released from the hospital so we can go home and sleep in our bed. Hopefully it will be soon. Keep the prayers coming. And even if you’re young with no history of heart disease, get checked out by a cardiologist. Most people in my husband’s position never know they have anything wrong until they have a massive heart attack or just drop dead. We are so blessed to have caught it before anything happened.
