Literally spent an hour talking sht about FB and how I’d get off all these apps if I could. Had her! She hands me the phone. 10 min later I promised her I’d google it and here we are four days later and I still don’t know… so 30s. I’m in my late 30s. What gen is this? 🙃

I have a mentoree who told her professor she had no interest in learning Tchaik bc of the sheer volume of times it had been done. She offered Coleridge-Taylor as an alternative and her professor accepted it.

Especially when I think about the sheer number of hrs we, as a studio, we’re made to listen/watch this concerto in school. Same shit from like 4 ppl a masterclass. Variety is the spice of life, and then you diversify it?? 👌🏽

It is possible to have compositional respect for a piece and to also find it fcking boring. As a working violinist I feel like I have earned the right to be declarative about this.

Anybody who thinks “Black people look bad” after the #Oscars already thought Black people look bad. Respectability doesn’t cure racism. Be Love, but please don’t think that a person who uses one moment to malign a whole group of people did not do so before that moment.
