Two attacks against Germany: 1. A drone that didn't work, couldn't explode & was defeated by a bus driver (🇷🇺) 2. the #Nordstream sabotage, which ultimately cost Germany a total of €160 billion (🇺🇦 ) The former is a cause for war, the second... never happened. #1984
The drone in Leipzig was in a terrible state. It could not explode because it was set up wrongly and it could not fly because it was in a mess. It hovered at low height between cars ‘for hours’ until a bus driver pushed it to the ground. There were no airplanes in the vicinity and nobody had a clue of it was a joke or not. This pathetic drone is supposed to be Russian and is now the reason for a hybrid war. You can’t make this up. They are like children, thinking that we are children.

In my J-Lit for Occidentals class today, a student made a comparison btwn story's protagonist & looks-maxxer @clavicular. I told them: Young men at the height of your beauty, do not pursue the way of looksmaxxingーfor there awaits only emptiness, degeneracy, senility,& death.

It’s apparently been missed by some that Burnham is proposing to delink state pensions (deferred wages) from wage growth, and therefore from fights over wages. Easy to miss this when you’ve stopped focusing on the core social relation of capitalism - wage labour.

NATO and EU are like transactivists. They spent years provoking a conflict and then genuinely imagine themselves to be the victim. NATO membership for Ukraine was for Russia what self-id was for women.

Volkswagon announce up 50,000 job cuts. Staggering. The model of German capitalism, fatefully bound-up with the EU model of helping the core to feed on the periphery, is rapidly collapsing. In a continent at war, with rising authoritarianism, overmatched by China and the US.

Now that wokist discourse has been defeated, we can go back to using the term "woke" in its original sense, viz., those who who have awakened through the cultivatation of noetic vision, as opposed to those who remain asleep by seeing world through the physical eye only.

What is grievously lacking in the Occident today is something analogous to what Haruo Shirane calls the “haikai imagination” ー a mode of perception that interprets the contemporary world thru the mediating prism of the classical past. We have no reference frame, aside from MTV.

A few days ahead of the election in Saxony-Anhalt. 🤡
Friedrich Merz is preparing to blame Russia for the attempted drone attack in Leipzig and announce "extensive" sanctions, in a serious hardening of Berlin's posture toward Moscow. Also big new EU sanctions package planned. Exclusive with @AlexanderDinger politico.eu/article/friedric…

Great news and many congratulations to the people of Iceland for holding on to your sovereignty. 👏👏👏
Iceland Rejects EU Accession Talks In a fiercely campaigned national referendum conducted yesterday and counted through the night, the Icelandic people have rejected opening EU accession negotiations - with a Brexit reminiscent vote split of 52/48.

Bessent will need Warsh's support. Possible next steps by the Fed (no QE, at first). Scott Bessent's attempt to suppress long-term yields by bolstering the Treasury's buyback program has faded, as expected. Technically, buybacks will not commence before September 9th. For context, publicly held debt with a duration longer than 10 years stood at ca. $6.23 trillion as of March 2026, while SOMA, the Fed's portfolio, held $1.58 trillion in the same maturity bucket. Here is the crux of the problem: Any Treasury buybacks will have a limited impact if the market continues selling the long end against them. Which brings us to the more powerful lever, a duration flip of the Fed's balance sheet. By selling short-end holdings and buying long-end securities, the Fed can meaningfully flatten the yield curve without expanding its balance sheet by a single dollar. No QE, no political embarrassment for Warsh, no headlines about money printing. The quantity stays identical, only the duration changes. The downstream effect is equally significant. Pressure on short-term yields creates the headroom the Fed needs to cut rates, without having to justify a balance sheet extension to a market that would immediately read it as capitulation. It is the quiet option. Which is precisely why it is the one worth watching. In other words - the possible sequence. Enhanced buy backs by the treasury (as announced)-> flip the Fed's balance sheet -> Cut rates -> QE as a lender of last resort.
The Fed's balance is evolving (since they stopped QT in Dec 2025) Where this goes next, speculatively - should Bessent's attempts fade: A portfolio this front-loaded has room to twist. Selling bills to buy duration would be a reversal of stated policy, so I'd treat it as a tail - but it's the tail I'd watch.

No university that is worth its salt “supports” the opinions or conclusions of any of its academic staff or its students. A university that does that undermines the academic freedom of its staff and students. It is more like a training school.
This is the critical point. Cofnas wasn't hired as a race scientist. If he ends up in the middle of a massive newstory, and does the podcast circuit as a race realist at Ghent, Ghent is being publicly represented as supporting something it isn't supporting.

Russia is losing the war it started. And it is retaliating by targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure. We are working with Member States and our partners to support Ukraine’s anti-ballistic capabilities. So that Ukraine has the means to prevent the loss of lives. The most urgent of priorities.

Polish head of government publicly endorsing the largest terrorist attack ever on German industrial infrastructure The German pivot back to good relations with Russia really can't come soon enough.
Polish PM Donald Tusk on Nord Stream 2: Poland, regardless of who was prime minister, warned against this and did everything possible to prevent Nord Stream 2 from becoming a reality and to make Europe as independent as possible from Russian gas supplies. Germany certainly should not prosecute those who, when their country had been attacked and Russia had revealed itself as the aggressor, undertook actions of one kind or another. I believe that the people who should be ashamed are not those who disabled Nord Stream 2, but those who built it.

The Chair of Cambridge History Faculty trying to make this about the alleged racism of Arday's critics is a good deal worse than virtue-signalling. It is blame shifting, and a transparent attempt by senior Cambridge academics to avoid the scrutiny that is urgently needed.
This email was sent today on behalf of the chair of the History Faculty: 'Dear History Faculty staff and students It has been a sad and difficult weekend, as the whole university community processes the tragic death of Jason Arday. A message follows below from two of our Pro Vice Chancellors, and I share their shock and grief. I’m intending to attend the Stand up to Racism vigil in the Cambridge Market Square at 6.30pm today, Aug 17th, and I know there are others going on elsewhere. If you’re in Cambridge, do join me if you’d like to have a quiet moment or a chat. Yours in sadness,' If the Chair of History, or any other academic leader at Cambridge, really wanted to stand up to racism they would be reviewing their own commitment to EDI practices of hiring, cultivating and promoting on the basis of skin colour. Attending a Stand Up to Racism vigil is virtue signalling at best.

Once again universities have "joined forces" to oppose majority opinion and Britain's national interest. Context: just 54% of postgrad research students at Russell Grp unis are from UK. This falls to 40% in tech and engineering. We need trained Britons to rebuild Britain.
🚨🇬🇧 NEW: Nine universities have joined forces to provide funded postgraduate places for students from Afghanistan, Myanmar, Sudan and Cameroon after the Home Office suspended study visa applications from those countries in March Participating universities include: - University of Leicester - King’s College London - University of London - University of Northampton - University of St Andrews - Cardiff University - Birkbeck (University of London) - University of Salford - Aberystwyth University

The Fed is buying US Treasury bills at a faster pace than during Covid. - Covid: ~$320B - Last 7 months: ~$290B In just 7 months, the Fed has already bought almost as many Treasury bills as it did during Covid. In other words, the Fed is printing money to buy UST bills, thereby suppressing yields... and people still think they're going to hike.
