In a world shaped by economic instability and climate crises, labor rights and social protection are still too often overlooked in G20 decision-making. Yet ensuring that every worker formal or informal has access to healthcare, a pension, and unemployment security is a matter of justice. Member states must ratify and implement international labor standards, strengthen oversight mechanisms, and expand collective bargaining frameworks. In Africa, the establishment of universal social protection systems can no longer be delayed. This requires adequate funding, skill transfers, and concrete technical support, particularly in the context of post-COVID-19 recovery and climate adaptation. Commitments must translate into tangible measures that meet the real needs of communities. Consult : ituc-africa.org/IMG/pdf/fr_p… @ituc_africa @profhod

It’s time to break the chains of economic injustice! Africa can no longer suffocate under the weight of austerity policies imposed by the IMF and the World Bank. These debts, inherited from unjust systems, are holding back our development and sacrificing our future. ✊🏾 We demand now: ✅ Total cancellation of the debt to free our economies ✅ An end to IMF austerity measures that weaken our public services ✅ A break from dependency policies that chain people instead of empowering them 📍 Accra, Ghana – Black Star Square 📅 29 August 2025 ⏰ 7:00 AM – 1:00 PM Join us for the "Pan-African Rally for Debt Cancellation". "Workers are not at the periphery of trade — they are at its very core. From production to distribution, to the final act of consumption, they give life to the economy. They are not bystanders in the theatre of trade — they are its protagonists. Excluding them from trade discussions is not only unjust — it undermines the very foundation of inclusive and sustainable development." @AkhatorO General Secretary @ituc_africa @LabourResearch @SaskFi @ACFTAsecretariat @ALREI_Africa @_AfricanUnion – at Botswana

Food handlers cook and feed nine million learners in Mzansi. But, to avoid paying food handlers a proper wage, government treats them as volunteers, so they get away with paying only a monthly stipend of R2100. The @DBE_SA and the @The_DSD should recognise food handlers as employees and increase the amount they earn to align with the minimum wage. Add your name to this petition to support food handlers: awethu.amandla.mobi/petition… An organisation called the @LabourResearch put together this video showing the struggles plaguing feeding schemes across the country.
