Progress for wild animal protection!
Labour pledged in its manifesto to ban trail hunting, and the government has now begun the process of delivering on that promise. 🦊

For too long, trail hunting has been used as a smokescreen and resulted in the hunting of live mammals with dogs.

The Animal Welfare Committee’s new opinion is damning for the fur industry, showing serious welfare harms, plus traceability & certification failures.
The new working group must now be used to explore a clear path to banning fur imports. #FurFreeBritain

Last night FOUR PAWS UK and @DefraGovUK brought together Parliamentarians, animal welfare organisations& campaigners to celebrate the #AnimalWelfareStrategy! 🎉🐾
A huge moment for a kinder future for companion animals, wildlife & farmed animals.
Watch the highlights 👇📹
We welcome Labour’s plans to modernise vet regulation. Licensing vet practices, stronger oversight and clearer pricing should help animals get treatment sooner and protect welfare when standards fall short. 🐶 🐱

🐶Delighted to welcome the launch of the Government’s Animal Welfare Strategy today - the most ambitious reforms in a generation to protect pets, farm animals and wildlife.
I know how strongly people in Enfield North care about animal welfare and I’m proud to back this action.

I know the joy animals bring to many of our lives and I know that people across Smethwick really care about animal welfare.
That's why I'm proud to support the Animal Welfare Strategy launched by @DefraGovUK.
This ambitious package will deliver some of the strongest animal welfare reforms in a generation, improving the lives of animals in homes, on farms, and in the wild.
It’s time our laws caught up with the evidence and closed loopholes that allow animal suffering. This strategy delivers on our manifesto promise to protect the animals we all care about.
