Research is for all of us. It requires support, not chaos.
Researchers push boundaries, and must be free to explore, collaborate, challenge, present inconvenient truths, and speak to the media.
When research is threatened, we have a duty to speak up for those who cannot.

Grad students and postdocs need our support.
I know the challenges they face firsthand. When I was at the university, I helped them secure funding, food, housing and heating.
They have the ideas, do research now, and are also the future of research.
Time to invest.

Congratulations to @WesternUSPT professor of physical therapy, Trevor Birmingham on being elected to the Fellows of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. Trevor's work explores how interventions can be combined to change the way the knee bears weight during walking.

We are a country of discoverers, explorers, inventors, and innovators. We have a long history of research achievement: insulin, stem cells, canola, Canadarm, double lung transplants, etc. It’s time to invest in the granting councils and graduate students to build a better future.

Research holds real promise for people, society and our planet, impacts each of our lives, matters for its own sake, and is a basic building block of Canada. It’s time to invest in the granting councils and graduate scholarships, especially as peer countries ramp up investment.
