These Just Stop Oil actions are part of a noble history of protest. The Suffragettes are lauded today with statues in Parliament Square, but at the time they were regarded with contempt, and they didn't throw soup on paintings protected by glass, they slashed & damaged them.
🚨 BREAKING: 2 VAN GOGH PAINTINGS SOUPED HOURS AFTER PHOEBE AND ANNA SENTENCED 🥫 3 Just Stop Oil supporters have thrown soup over 2 of Van Gogh paintings in the 'Poets and Lovers' exhibition at the National Gallery. ➡️ Support people in resistance: chuffed.org/project/support-…

Happy birthday to Marsha P. Johnson, a revolutionary Black transgender woman who led the Stonewall Riots as well as pioneered LGBTQ+ struggles. She is still a source of inspiration for LGBTQ+ activists today. Working with Sylvia Rivera, she played a vital role in building the Gay Liberation Front, organizing marches, and establishing the Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries (STAR) group. Her life reached a tragic conclusion in July 1992 when her body was discovered in the Hudson River.

You see this, this is what happens in real life. The bots can't show up on the streets. On the right there (yeah the far right) are the 6 nazis who turned up to cause mayhem. Everyone else is there to stop them. This is England.

How does it feel fascist? The way we negotiate with the far right. Everywhere.

#JO2024 #ceremoniedouverture

Groups are taking bold action at airports worldwide under the banner of @_oilkills, rallying for a #FossilFuelTreaty to phase out oil & gas by 2030. But what has aviation got to do with it?! 1/ 👇🧵
